Adobe has revealed plans to end support for Flash before the end of 2020 in favor of supporting open standards.
Adobe suggests migrating all Flash content to any combinations of HTML5, WebGL, or WebAssembly before end-of-life status is reached. Microsoft is also on board with this move and has announced plans to phase out Flash for Internet Explorer and Edge browsers by 2019, although end users will still have to option to re-enable Flash. Both Google and Mozilla have shared similar plans for Chrome and Firefox that slowly work towards complete the removal of Flash before the end of 2020 is reached. Apple made a statement explaining that its mobile devices never supported Flash in the first place, and their computers have only allowed Flash to run with expressed permission since 2010.
This is a step forward for the web as a whole and should greatly cut down on the number of security patches required. Having originally launched in 1996, remaining a household name for over 20 years is an impressive feat given the vastness that the digital world has become.
Java script is terrible but Java itself is great, it was one of the first languages to be fully multi threaded.Originally Posted by JackCY
When I find a page with Flash, I simply leave as it means it's prehistoric. Flash disabled by default in Firefox. I think Chrome still has some builtin Flash. It's one of the worst slowest buggiest crap riddled applications ever made, even worse than Java in how damn slow it is.
Javascript targets different side of application developement. It is a language of web. You actually don't make or need to make low level apps for web as there is no need for it in there, there are other programming languages for that.

This is sad news. I'm really going to miss those "This site has been blocked because your version of flash is outdated. Would you like to update to a newer version of flash that will be outdated by next week and then maybe this time you will install McAfee Security Scan Plus and Intel True Key also?" messages.

Allot of mobile software gets LOTS of updates as well.
But mobile apps and your phones OS still work even if it's not up to date.
I believe the reason the name Javascript was chosen to make people think it was related to Java, which at the time was (and still is thanks to the likes of Android SDK) quite popular.Originally Posted by sumitlian

Most of e-commerce businesses runs on JavaScript so we can't actually complain about it, also our cute OCN and all forums and most websites run on it too and there is no domain at front end web development at least that requires multithreading to be essential.
But yeah it's been a while and I want it to be multithreaded as well since most PCs are in the world I think already multi core ready. But since there is no roadmap for it to happen at least for now, it is safe to say javascript will remain sinle threaded for now.
