AMD is said to make an official presentation of Radeon RX Vega, the first consumer model based on its Vega architecture, under Siggraph, starting on Sunday, July 30th. In the run-up to the long-awaited launch of RX Vega, there are already leaked additional performance tests on the graphics card. Results that indicate that Radeon RX Vega delivers performance in class with Nvidia's performance chart Geforce GTX 1080. If these leaked performance results, which match well with tests on the Radeon Vega Frontier Edition, it means that AMD will not threaten Nvidia on performance. The Geforce GTX 1080 Ti looks forward to being unharmed on performance, something that now does not seem to prevent AMD from taking really paid for its own flagship
As much as a GTX 1080ti for less performance??? AMD has lost their minds.

I didn't think the Vega fail train could get any longer but AMD keeps piling on the box cars behind it...

Well now the blind taste test is making more sense.

They have to put it this way to potential customers and talk up the Gsync\FreeSync cost angle because Vega is going to cost MORE than a GTX 1080, so they have to talk about total system cost.

But that really only applies if you happen to be in the market for a monitor at the exact same time???

I hope they got the wrong info.
Or all the vega information has been wrong and the card is actually as fast as a 1080 ti.

But if this price is correct, I hope all those "I'm going to buy Rx Vega no matter what!" start to wake up.
With those prices, nvidia are going to make a killing, and there is no chance the price of the 1080 ti dents even the slightest until volta comes. It might also mean that nvidia can delay volta more since they have almost no competition.

The thing would be more Dead than Fury X six months later. It at least competed with the 980Ti and traded blows with it. Good grief RTG....

It's clear AMD has a driver ready to boost performance by 100%! Hence the Poor Vega easter egg in their old video!
They're going to smash the 1080Ti in gaming, the same way they smashed the Titan Xp in SpecViewPerf. /s

FTFY from a mining standpoint. My opinion. Seriously though, AMD isnt blind and deaf, they know Demand is huge for their RX cards from Miners who are without a doubt their most rabid customers at the moment. Note, I said rabid, not loyal while they continue to strip supply bare. I would expect AMD to raise MSRP "some". Not sure if the quoted article has any accuracy though.

Nvidia department is probably laughing so hard right now, like this

but i don't find the price weird at all, considering that its still gonna be sold out on day 1 through day 30.
i'm pretty sure they're milking those miners with a "founders edition" release first.

Perhaps this card will be an extreme case of FineWine TM the fact that this thing is such a turd seems to make that the only conclusion.
If they could scale up Fuji while shrinking it from 28 nm to 14 nm they would've gotten like 3 times what they get now. The only conclusion follows; since this is a big die (also HBM on interposer) at 14 nm will eventually have high performance but somehow it is not here yet.

How AMD did so badly in terms of getting that performance out at launch nobody knows.

I don't think it's a guarantee that miners will buy these cards. Miners care about power consumption and price. Even though the GTX 1060s are out of stock, there are plenty of 1080ti's that are currently available for MSRP. Similarly, even though the RX 570s and 580s are sold out, the Vega Frontier Edition is in stock and has a limit of 90 per customer.

This part troubles me and I believe you may be right.

I'm going to wait until Vega drops do make any final decision, but I may just go ahead and get a 1080ti.

The theoretical compute is around 25% higher on the RX VEGA over a 1080 Ti's GP102-350.

Believe miners might reach to the upper mid-range card like RX VEGA if mining returns continue at their current rate.

I guess I'm sticking with my RX 480 and 60hz 1080p Acer panel for a while longer then. For shame AMD, for shame, I really wanted a Vega GPU to go with my 1700 build, and no amount of "total system cost is lower!" and "You can't tell the difference!" arguments can be made to convince me that paying 1080Ti AIB prices for ~1080 FE performance is worth it.

AMD can argue the total system cost angle all they want, but the fact of the matter still stands: ~1080 performance at >1080Ti costs, irregardless of how it 'feels' is unacceptable. Yes of course there will be some who will buy it, and to them I say, "It's your money, you do with it what you want."

But I just can't justify this product from a normal consumer standpoint. I don't really want to buy into Nvidia's price hike premiums, but AMD is making it hard to justify playing the "Just wait for..." game any longer.

Sources of SweClockers highlight European price levels around 900 to 1,000 EUR including VAT, which is also confirmed by several contacts in the Swedish market. That means in round throws 9,000 kronor including VAT for the top model - in line with really expensive variations of the Geforce GTX 1080 Ti.

I assume it's for the XTX.

I would just pick up a Nixeus View24 144Hz Freesync to go with your 480 and call it good for a bit.

This is actually right where I expected the aio version to be in price for the last? months. I thought I would see evidence of performance justifying it though. But there are still a few days left.

Holy Christ, the driver thing again? Criminal, when will it die, when will they let it die?!

Folks; maybe at the very initial drop of Vega FE we had some DriverHope™, but that is gone now! We aren't getting magic drivers that lift the performance to the level it needs to be in order to be considered competitive. The cost to manufacture is going to keep the Retail on it high as well.

Best word of advice?

Brace yourselves, Nvidia is going in dry!

Probably never...

That's what all those blind taste test are about. The card can't really compete with the 1080Ti, so they have to push the whole FreeSync/Vega ecosystem.

And you are right about Nvidia... ouch!
