EDIT: This is indeed a problem and Asus has been able to replicate it. Read the following thread out to the reply on another forum from today (27July) https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/samsung-960-pro-running-slow-on-x299.18787451/ This looks to affect more than just the 960 Evo

I'll drop a general question here.

Asus X299 Prime Deluxe, 7820x at 4.7 , 32gigs of DDR4-3200 stock speeds, single 1080 ti FE, 960 Evo nvme, 1tb Intel SSD on Sata 6_1.

Clean Win10 install w/ only Nvidia and Realtek drivers update, rest what Win10 picked up its self.

My problem is a perceived low read/write speed on the 960 Evo. No matter how I overclock, stock clock, voltage check, whatever CrystalMark always shows around the following whether doing the test to C: or the D: partition. I've seen other postings from other people reporting the same problem in the X299 boards but its sporadic.

I have ran stock Windows or Samsung Nvme driver, checked for newest Nvme firmware, checked with Samsung Magician and per it the stick is running at Gen3 4.0x.

I can understand new platform, immature drivers, not a 7700k ipc but this makes no sense. Has anyone run into this discrepancy?

I've got XMP disabled and manual timings in. Setting SVID to Auto, Enabled or Disabled does nothing to change what is showing. Still showing like above.

Hello

Haven't seen that issue here. 0503 on the Strix allows for 3733MHz memory speed pretty much plug n' play with capable modules.

I followed what you did and sure enough it is working now. Doing a Prime95 8k FFT in place at stock settings (manual set RAM timings). That is an annoying thing the 'optimized defaults' aren't so 'default'. Thanks for the help.

hi, looking for advices considering motherboard selection.
I'm going to buy 7820x, might go for 7960 in couple of years.
Now I'm choosing between
ASUS PRIME X299-A
ASUS TUF X299 MARK 1

MSI X299 TOMAHAWK
Main features i expect is: moderate overcloсking ability, reliability, at least 3200mhz ram profile support, good cooling setup.

I'd personally choose the mobo I did, the TUF MARK 1. I had a sabertooth x79 that worked perfectly since release and I sold it for $300. I mean, that thing survived power outages, quad and triple SLI, etc. It also seems Sabertooths and the TUF line hold their value later on because they are so durable.

And I'm running 3200mhz C14 ram on it perfectly. It auto chose the XMP profile on first boot I was surprised

I have a question I posed in the skylake X thread also. Is it a limitation, feature, or something in the mobo that software reports my cores smashing around from 1.2ghz up to 4.5ghz during benchmark and stresstests?

This is 7820x with Asus X299 TUF Mark 1. Cooled with h115i and stay around 55-65 for the duration of the benchmarks. GPU is Titan X Pascal and PSU is ax1200i (so no power issues I believe).

For instance, I can't pass the 3dmark stresstest, I always get 86% and my core speeds are jumping around rather than holding constant at Turbo 2 or 3.

Firestrike Ultra gives me the correct score in line with Titan Xs, but again the core speeds fluctuate wildly.

My i7 3820, once started, would hold its turbo speeds during the demos.

I have the very same issue. My G.Skill 3200 16-18-18-38 64gb (two sets of 2 x 16gb: very same modules with consequent serial numbers) has been flawlessly working under 0402 bios with XMP. The new bios 0503 prevents me using ram clocks anything beyond 2400Mhz.

Clearing CMOS did not work regardless of methods: jumpers and batteries.

I was trying to write this in ASUS ROG forum but couldn't get a log-in credential there. I am happy to see you monitoring this thread. Please look at the issue.
You will need to supply more info. What settings are you changing? Usually, this type of stuff occurs when the auto voltage rules change.

Combined kits can be a pain anyway (same make model only helps to some extent). Its not something the memory vendors or we endorse from a support perspective.

While you may be happy I'm here, I can't work without sufficient details. Just coming into the thread and making a 'me too' post doesn't help me help you.

I understand the XMP may not work if they are combined kits. The issue is that they worked flawlessly under 0209 and 0402 bios, by simply setting XMP enabled. I did not change anything regarding the voltages.

For 0503 bios, I have tried a variety of things. Setting XMP without any other manual settings did not work. Manual setting of ram modules beyond 2400 did not work. Specifically, here is the symptom of XMP setting: after the press of power button, the board "blinks" once and disappears.

I read a post in this thread that going back to 0402 bios may solve the problem. But there are some people observing better memory latency under the new bios.

I would like to provide you with as much information as I have. Thank you very much for your quick responses.

Note the voltages and timings (all of them) that are being applied in the previous builds, and set the same manually in 0503.

Hello

Reflash 0503. Manually set the primary timings, memory speed and memory voltage. Set SA voltage to 1.0V or 1.10V. All other settings can be left at default. Don't mess with the settings in the ODT, IO or Skew sections of the BIOS. As I noted previously I have seen no issue with memory compared to previous BIOS versions up to 3733MHz memory speed.
