History:
So I've been around OCN quite a bit, lurked forever from 2010 until finally creating an account in 2015 for a BOINC Pentathlon. I've seen build logs from many people for many computers (mostly AMD, this was before the build forums were combined). I've always found them entertaining and/or enlightening. Now, while I can't guarantee to be either of those two, I can certainly try and at the very least show a mother of a build to my fellow OCNers.
This is likely to be a multi-month project as things come together. Could go quicker if everything lines up right or slower if I change my mind about things and/or need to do some modding to get things perfect.
Name:
This actually has a lot to do with my own personal building history. I started back in 2005 (senior year of high school) with a Socket 939 Athlon 64 3200+ (Venice). From there in 2010 I went to a AM3 Phenom II 1090T (Thuban), followed by an AM3+ FX-8350 (Piledriver) in 2012 [Was rolling in that military pay at this point and could upgrade 'faster']. Which brings us to today where my aging daily driver 8350 has been in dire need of upgrade.
Thus 'New Dawn' has become my name of choice for this rig. Not only for the new architecture from AMD, but also relaunching my daily system back into a competitive present day. With this name, I hope (to myself) that AMD remains in a competitive stance against Intel well into the future and I can continue to support them in this way.
Case Selection:
This part was actually bloody hard. I mean harder then it should have been. I originally started by shopping around for a dual ATX case, but most (all but one I could find) only do an ATX and mATX/ITX in dual configuration. Mountain Mods has a dual ATX case, but I'm not a fan of the cube look, so I passed. Next, I headed over to Spotswood, because I (thought) knew they have modular stackable tech (open air) benches from when they sponsored one of OCN's Pentathlon. Unfortunately, upon visiting their order page I discovered they're only taking orders for their mining benches. Sad day indeed and one of the few times miners have actually annoyed me to any degree. Went looking for some desk cases at this point, but it seems Red Harbinger is officially dead (their forums have disappeared and last Twitter was in Jan '16) and Lian Li desks are overly officey/industrial looking for me, I like a little bit of flair. Looked at the iCTable, only to realize on the order it page it takes SIX WEEKS to have one shipped, besides the price. I can overlook the price to an extent, but the shipping time is what really put me off. I also looked at Case Labs, but they haven't released anything 'interesting' recently either with it being in the Cube and SFF style.
I'm sure you're sensing a 'theme' at this point. I wanted something that would largely consolidate my rigs into a single space saving piece. I also would have preferred to buy from a domestic company even if it was twice as expensive. Well... We can't always get want.
Which leads us to my choice of the Thermaltake Tower 900 Black. A large and well suited for liquid cooling E-ATX tower. The three large surround windows also helped and reviews on the case were mostly positive (in the 4/5 rating). Luckily, as well, my local Microcenter also happens to carry them. No coincidence, I swear.

As a note, these part lists are likely to change and expand.
As I said earlier, this build is likely to last a couple months minimum. Not only just by its scope, but also the fact several of the parts haven't released yet, TR being a few days out and Vega a couple weeks to the end of the month depending on 56/64 versions.
I hope that you all enjoy my future follies, laughter, and cries as well.
Initial parts bought at Microcenter today to start building in preparation for TR/Vega releases.
