This is a call-out to all socket LGA 775 overclockers. This Intel E8500 has been deemed guilty of whatever crimes Judge blaze2210 has felt like pinning on it, and has been sentenced to death. Above, you can see the artist's rendering of the verdict being passed down. As you can see, the judge is clearly tired of this CPU's crap.
So, the mission for one of you will be this: kill this processor by overclocking it as high as it can go, until it gives up the ghost. This is not meant to be a mere "death by electrocution", where excessive volts are immediately pumped in. This should be a longer, more torturous, and more well-documented process than that.
The "Master of Execution" should be someone with a love for overclocking, and must agree to document the process - pics are an absolute minimum and also a must, but videos are also appreciated.
So basically, the CPU will go to the person who wishes to carry out this task, no charge for the CPU, just cover shipping, or come and pick it up (Santee, CA).
**By the way, this card does at least 4.5ghz, so it should be a fun run....
Dang! I've personally had this chip at 4.5ghz on a DX48BT2 board. It was like a space heater, but it ran. 4.2 is about where I kept it when it was my daily driver.
I have a Q9650 on an Asus Maximus 2 Formula which was running at 3.4 GHz flawlessly. I'm unsure if I should bin it or sell it as I got a free set with i5-3470 for the secondary...

Thanks but I'll pass on it.
TBH I believe there could be someone here that would need it more than I do. I'm sure sooner or later it will find the right home and die gloriously.
Not far. Either it's not a good batch or the board is bad, but I wasn't able to get higher than 3.4 stable.
