Help me select the best power supply out of these (PSUs available to me listed with prices)

I live in New Zealand, so I have compiled a list of PSUs around my price range that are available to me, with their prices (in local NZD).

High-end gaming load tops out ~400W. Idle draw is ~70W.
Modular is nice to have but not essential.
Quiet operation is essential. Half of these PSUs I find mixed opinions, or reviews with improper noise testing.

Could I get some help from a pro on selecting one of these? And the reasons why over the others?
Thanks!

  • $148: Seasonic G-650
  • $165: Seasonic G-750
  • $168: Seasonic S12G 750W (Not modular. Is it the same as the G-series otherwise?)
  • $161: FSP Hydro G 650W
  • $187: FSP Hydro G 750W (Too expensive to have some Chinese capacitors)
  • $166: Be Quiet! Straight Power 10 CM 600W
  • $175: EVGA G2 550W
  • $173: EVGA G3 550W (Could only find one review. Noise complaints with the G3 850W, including with ECO mode off)
  • $185: Corsair RM550X
  • $199: Fractal Design Edison M 650W

Looking at every option and their prices and the EVGA SuperNova G2/G3 and the RMx are the best options

The G3 have a very aggressive fan profile when used in hybrid fan mode which means the fan will make large jumps in RPM which is why its known for being loud
If you turn the hybrid fan mode off and just leave the fan always on its actually more quiet

So a G3 a G2 or the RMx in that order
You dont have the new Seasonic Focus Plus Gold in New Zealand?

From others' complaints, it seems the G3 850W is still not so great with noise with ECO Mode turned off. Does this not carry over to the 550W? See: https://forums.evga.com/G3-fan-noise-m2631908.aspx

Looks like I can possibly get the FOCUS Plus with a waiting time.
I can't find much information about them online either. How do they compare to my listed PSUs?

FOCUS Plus:
550W: $146
650W: $163
750W: $180

Thanks for your help

With those prices on the Seasonic Focus Plus Gold there is little reason to get a G2/G3 or an RMx
As for the Focus Plus Gold its on par if not a little bit better then the G2 and the RMx

$30-40 cheaper for a 550 watt Focus Plus Gold is a great price.

Thanks for that. I'll ask the store to see when they could get them in.
What makes them better than the G2 and RMx? Do you have a source I could read?

Average voltage regulation

Focus Plus Gold 0,33%
G2 0,9%
G3 0,18%
RMx 0,7%

Ripple suppression 12v rail

Seasonic 22,5mv
G2 15mv
G3 9mv
RMx 10mv

With numbers this low you are talking peanuts and with a $30-40 lower price there is no reason to get a G2/G3 or an RMx.

Thanks for all your help!
Looks like I can't get a Focus Plus locally without waiting a month or two.

I can get a Seasonic Focus Plus Platinum 550W (SSR-550PX) for $187 NZD shipped from NewEgg NZ.
I can't find reviews for it.
I would assume it may be quieter due to the greater efficiency.
What do you think?
The Focus Plus Gold 550W is $28 less here also.

They should be the same thing inside just with a little bit higher efficiency.
