Other than its existence, and the intention to publish the game exclusively on Windows 10, publisher Microsoft Studios revealed almost nothing about the project. Judging by the animated concept art in the trailer, Age IV won't take the series to a singular new era. Instead, a variety of armies from previous games in the series are featured in the footage: Native Americans, British Redcoats, Roman legionnaires, Japanese samurai, and others. It's unclear whether these are the units or factions we'll control in Age of Empires IV. Hopefully they won't take the form of individually purchasable armies, as Relic did with Sega's Company of Heroes 2.
...
Age of Empires IV will be Relic's first game produced for a publisher other than Sega, its owner, since it was purchased by auction in the selling off of THQ's assets in 2013. Speculating, it's likely that Microsoft paid Sega for the right to work with Relic, as it probably did for Creative Assembly, the Sega-owned studio that developed Halo Wars 2.
I can not wait for this game. Age of Empires 1 was my first PC game. I love this franchise, holds a special place in my heart. Gives me hope that Relic is working on this, same guys that did Warhammer and Company of Heroes. This better not suck and better not be dumbed down.
I have high hopes for this game.
No other game will ever come close to the hours iv put in to age of empire games. Use to play it from the time I got home from school until I went to bed. Then would get up early and play it until it was school time and repeat.
For me it will be a win if.
There is no stupid DLC and you get everything and a complete game from the get go.
Civilizations advancements go further.
Player unit limit is really high.
Good Lan support
I really have high hopes for the game as it is an absolutely fantastic franchise. But I don't have much faith in this particular project, mainly because Relic is behind it.
My concern is that they'll make it an RTS in the style of CoH or DoW. Not that there's anything wrong with that(territory control type), it's just not AOE.

Huge fan of AOE and Empire Earth 1 and 2. I really miss such strategy games that have a ton of units, no turn by turn wait and can be played with others. I hope this one turns out great!
