And it's been a long time coming. In March last year, game director Hajime Tabata acknowledged the "big call" he and his team faced regarding a potential PC port of their then console-exclusive Final Fantasy 15. A month ahead of its console debut, the Crisis Core mastermind then suggested it could take upwards of 12 months for his latest work to land on desktops-if it were to arrive at all. An impressive tech demo powered by Square Enix's Luminous Studio Pro engine and Nvidia's GTX 1080 Ti aired this year, suggesting Noctis et al might debut on PC sooner rather than later-and today the latter unveiled Final Fantasy 15's Windows Edition as something that's definitely happening.

Depends on the reception FF15 windows receives. SE knows there is a community of jrpg players in the steam community. I can see dark souls players transition to FF as well.

This version of FF has real time combat. It should be glorious.

There is also a bunch of new nvidia tech here. Even if you dont care about the gameplay or story, it'll be a beautiful tech demo. I remember The Division had some nvidia works elements, but I never had them running. At the time it was very performance killing. I think we're at a time where turning on such effects wont be as performance intense...hopefully.

The only thing that really matters: Is the game good? I have read mixed reviews.

Yeah, but can it run FF15? I can almost hear it now.

Lol, I remember that I still had a 256MB X1650 PRO when Crysis came out. Was still decent to play Oblivion at 1280x1024 after all. In a couple of months I went through 9800 GTX, GTX 260s, GTX 295 and HD 4890s :p

Going from X1650 PRO to HD 4890s was like 10-12x the performance. Also, going from 1280x1024 -> 1920x1200 felt massive at the time. And Crysis was also called "photorealistic" at the time. Still couldn't max it out though.

For me the most massive jump has been from 1440p to 4K.

Welcome to the jrpg genre. Believe or not, i think SE may have toned it down a bit for western tastes. Also, looks like a first as the entire cast is male...not helping the boyband stigma!

From little I know of the story, the core group is based off the main character and his bodyguards. The similarities stem from that as their outfits are supposed to be uniforms.

I bought the ps4 version, played it for a few hours, unfortunatly i really didn't like it, stopped playing it.

I have read that, since release, they have added a lot of patches/content to the game.

Also, better graphics and even more so a higher framerate may really improve the experience compared to the console version (30fps is kind of low for a action combat style )

Still my main complaints about this game were more fundamental, i didn't like the content(story, characters etc), and that will obviously not change with the pc version.

Still, i will follow this release, because i am really interested in the final comparison between the pc and console version (how much are they able/willing to improve the game for pc users), we will see.

As someone who's played it from beginning to end: its by no means bad, though the narrative takes a dump at the latter half only to barely recover. The DLC has addressed this issue slightly, but I hold the opinion that this is content that should have been included in the original release.

If I were to cite the game's biggest weakness, it would be that some of the sidequests can get VERY repetitive, though there are exceptions.

While I like the game, 'that' chapter is definitely the weakest point in the narrative. Its been repeatedly alleged that the final boss was supposed to have multiple forms, but these were cut due to time constraints.

Now here's what I want to know, it was built for an APU so an AMD GPU (Please don't give me the lecture on optimization, I know how console -> PC works) but how is it going to perform on an AMD GPU... Hmm.. I wonder.

The game is a win10 exclusive, id wager DX12 only. What cards run best on DX12?
