I go from iphone to android and it's A-OK. It's just different OS, that's all. Like going from GUI to command line in Linux, which some users live by it everyday, less tech savvy people might find it troublesome. Heck I can even go from 10Mbps internet to 64kbps and live with it. tongue.gif

While I don't have major problems with Note 8 and do plan to get one soon (upgrading from a Note 5), being in a market with effectively only one product is driving me really nervous. What happens if Samsung discontinues the Note line-up next time for whatever reason?

I don't think you have to worry about the market (https://techcrunch.com/2017/09/12/samsung-touts-650k-note-8-pre-sales-2-5x-faster-than-note-7-pre-orders/)

Mine arrived today, the transition was literally run through a few basic setup options, and then plug the lightning cable into the iPhone as well as the Note 8 (came with the adapter to do so) and it copied everything over automatically! Photos, Messages, calanders and even all my alarms and note entries were copied over flawlessly.

Was completely surprised as I thought at the very least I'd have to run it through my PC but Samsung has really nailed the Switch software and process! Works on other android phones too I believe, doesn't have to be transferring from an iPhone.

All in all I've been stoked with this phone, haven't even installed Nova Launcher as the default Samsung one is so responsive. Haven't had much of a chance to play with the stylus as I'm on graveyard shifts at the moment and stayed up setting it up instead of sleeping, but keen to get outside and try out the camera.

I had no idea you could do that - plugging them into each other. I know Android devices come up as regular storage devices on other devices, but I didn't know Samsung could all of that across platforms. Is there a Samsung app you need to put on your iPhone I presume?

If it worked for that guy, he was very lucky. It didn't work for me and it doesn't work for tons of people across the net. The samsung switch app is awful and barely functional.

Funnily enough, no app needed on the iPhone, the Samsung switch app seems to access the iPhone much like iTunes does when it goes to create a normal backup of an iPhone, eg iPhone must be unlocked and you have to approve access for it to connect but that was it.

Ah I had no idea, I haven't looked into it as it worked so smoothly for me and before that I had no idea it even existed. Would be interesting to see what causes it to be so smooth for me while unstable for others then. I'd imagine the Samsung side of things would all be basically identical as they'd be (The vast majority) using the feature on a brand new phone. And the iOS side of things is pretty locked down and similar in itself (In a very simplified statement anyway).

Counting myself lucky regardless though, was smoother than I've had upgrading an iPhone to another iPhone at times biggrin.gif

I have a Nexus 6P and its served me well. I just recently replaced the battery because they're garbage, the one downside to them. I seriously want to get the Note 8 but it's just too expensive for my blood. I used to own every Note until 5. A coworker of mine has the S8+, and I may end up getting one of those instead. Honestly, its the same phone minus the SPen, Camera, and RAM.

Yeah, the S8 Plus is the best deal in flagship smart phones right now IMO. You can get one brand new for less than $700 and there are still great freebies available as well. Once the iPhone X comes out I imagine you will see similarly aggressively priced Note 8's...
