ASUS Rampage VI Extreme (X299) Owners Club - Page 156

I have not even installed the board yet and I am almost tired with all the "horror" stories so far regarding the following:

-VROC Key or Samsung 960 Pro (lol with this as well) not showing through the DIMM 2 Slot (Ridiculous that they still advertise it though)

- Asus AURA Software not working properly or even bricking the LEDs when other software that has access to the SMB is run in parallel.

- Intel Security Issues & No new Firmware (ok not Asus fault on this one).

installed the bios 1004 from the support page and now AURA can't handle all the RGB , specially the Trident Z ram sticks

Anyone have an idea why I can't even install IRSTE drivers from Asus website? I keep getting "platform not supported".

You have to enable vroc first. Then you can install. Same for me before I enabled vroc in bios smile.gif

I am a really patient person when it comes to anticipating greatness or something that makes me better off. In this sense I don't mind waiting for ASUS to make this board 100% operational exactly as it is advertised. What I do mind is if they never make it so.

lol - I can picture an angry Tuber smashing it with anger....

Ok I will be calm, after all I have not even turned on the damn thing yet.

Stupid me, I'm over blazing away 18 cores at a time with a grin on my face...

- with the default marque unicorn vomit mode aurus never opened - running linux
- no RGB DDR here - 128G of old school TridentZ's (with the gaudy red plastic removed because I'm not a monster to put those on this board)
- having given up 18 cores (was running 36 before) and not missing a thing (well, most of the time).

I guess I just have low standards?thumb.gif

FWIW, this VROC thing is BS - IMUO, Intel got caught with their hands in the cookie jar trying to over-segment the market and someone screwed up their matrix and advertised a feature in the prior generation then tried to take it away. The BS aspect is that we clearly have product promises being made in ad-copy that have yet to be delivered.

All this does not concern me!whistle.gif By the time I have all my parts gathered so I can build my new PC problems will have been solved by all vendors.
This motherboard, Samsung 960Pro Firmware issues, Fall Creators Update and of course the Professional (Adobe RGB) 4K monitor market will be flooded with great options as well at 38" of 4K goodness...

Wake me up at about 30 days from now and tell me that all of the above are true..Damn what a mess has the PC market become.

7740X working fine on the Rampage VI Extreme. Got a little annoyed today, grabbed my second R6E board for my 7900X and the plastic covers were all scratched. Got a perfect replacement the same day so I thought what the hell, let's try this...some quick clocks before going to bed. Not supported doesn't mean it doesn't work, but I understand the Kaby and Skylake-X CPUs are very different. BIOS looks exactly the same as when booting the 7740X on the APEX. Only the GPU works at x8 only, probably runs out of lanes and a lot of features on this board to try to disable next. wink.gif

Indeed, first time I fired up my system was astounded by how little the board and my 7980XE were sipping according to CPU-z biggrin.gif
