@Artah did you notice what I was mentioning earlier in the thread about how the LED cabling conflicts with the memory slots for both the Apex and the Extreme
Well if preordered one and consider selling it off if I have to break that thing off.

Not worried about the cable, I’ll either cut it off or drill holes on the RAM modules haha.

I do see what could be a few screws that need to be removed to do so, but figured it'd be safer and quicker to ask (and searching everywhere for the info comes up with naught). TIA!

Duh, figured it out. These are new boards to me and didn't want to snap anything off... haven't owned an Asus board since about 2000 or so. I was a Gigabyte fanbois after that.

Let me know how that goes, if you do switch RAM. I might do the same. Although I am fine with 4133 if it works.

Ok, I need help with the OC . . . I OC'd my 2600K many years ago with no problems, but I seem to be LOST with this newer BIOS. I tried a 45 multiplier which I am taking for granted is 4.5GHz and I got nowhere. Silicon Lottery did a stability/frequency test and rated this CPU:

4.7GHz
1.237V Vcore
-2 AVX Offset

I am lost as far as VCCIN, LLC, etc. and not sure if I need to touch them or not.

Can I mess with the RAM to see what works before a CPU OC, or should I just worry about the CPU OC, and once that is good, move to RAM?
Ok the verdict on 4200, the IMC on the 7900X is just too weak, I couldn't run it at 4200 or not yet. I'm keeping these though since I need two sets one for the Apex and one for the Extreme. Your best bet is to keep those 4133s and run them at C17 at 4000MHz. I was actually able to run them at 4133 with I think 103 or 106 base clock but why if C17/4000 is faster.

EDIT: I'm able to run 4200MHz but with all 8 modules but exact same settings with 4 it doesn't run hmmmm... rolleyes.gif

EDIT#2: Spoke too soon, it crashed when I did a test on it.

Yeah, gonna have fun playing some games for a couple days since even my 4.7 OC didn't keep . . . I'll give it some time before I give it another stab.

I have not been able to run my RAM at 4133 . . .

Like i said, gonna have a couple gaming days to chill and then I'll look at this all again in a few days.

Thanks for all the help.

Some 7980XE benchmarks leaked. Apparently the thing is pretty awesome. Can't wait to get mine.

And that's not even overclocked either. (that's simply running the "partial-core turbo" where it puts a few cores (like 6-8 im guessing on an 18 core chip.) to the ~4.4-4.5ghz max speed, then sets the rest somewhere between the 2.6ghz base and the 4.2ghz first-boost-notch. The same users on that Coolenjoy forum were able to push the 7980XE to 4.8ghz on all 18 cores and had it run Cinebench and they got just over 4,750 points (iirc it was 4,758, but i'll have to look it back up to remember the exact number. I know it was in the 4750's though), which makes sense because you usually see a ~500 point increase for every 2 cores you add in cinebench (like how a 6900K at 4.4ghz OC gets around ~1,700 points whereas the 10 core 6950X went up to ~2,200-2,300 at the same clock speed (500-600 point raise) So if you take the ~3,200 points that an overclocked 7920X 12 core is getting from users on here, you get an OC'd 7940X 14 core with approximately ~3,700 points, then the OC'd 16 core 7960X woudl have around 4,200 points, and the OC'd 7980XE would be right at 4,700 where the results show it.

So it seems like if you ran a monoblock to cool your VRM properly, de-lidded the 7980XE etc.. and clocked it to that nice ~4.8ghz and pumped the cache and RAM speeds etc.. a 5,000+ point cinebench run might actually be possible! We already have 196 single core score with standard turbo boost, and in the 4.8ghz OC results i think the single core score for the 7980XE was like 206 iirc. Which puts it at just as high as an OC'ed 7700K!! That'd be crazy!

Anyone know if this board has been selling through amazon yet? Their nonsensical statuses never let you know if the board hasn't shipped to them at all in the first place or if they got it but just sold out and are waiting on more etc... I'd prefer to get mine from Amazon at the same time as the 7980XE when it comes, curious if it'll be in stock by then but don't see any info about it.

Ya looks like its going to be nice. I am not going to de lid mine because I have never done it before and not sure I want my first time to be on a 2k chip. I am also not looking for bleeding edge OC, I am just going to OC to a stable setting and leave it.

Still debating on which g.skill rgb memory I am going to get though.
