Need help with choosing an internal HDD for gaming and storage

Hello, i have a 250GB SSD but nowadays with some games being 100+GBs it really wont work for me and buying more SSDs is too expensive.

I was thinking about having just my OS on the SSD and picking up a 3.5" HDD for my games.

My choice is either a WD Black 2TB for $129 or 2x WD Blue 2TB for $49 each so a total of $100

which one would you guys recommend for storing and loading games from?

also can i transfer from HDD to SSD back and forth with ease and no issues? like say i want to keep a few of the most used games on the SSD and if i need to shuffle them around from the SSD and HDD

Personally I would go with the WD Black. Great drive. Second place would be 2 blues. Throw them into RAID 0 and you got some decent speed. smile.gif

Lastly, yes you can transfer data between your SSD and hard drive without issues.

Just throwing this out there. If not the blues are great. I own 3 of them now. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822178996&cm_re=Seagate_firecuda-_-22-178-996-_-Product

Toshiba x300 4Tb 128MB cache for under 120 dollars.

WD has a better warranty, which is really what you are paying for but that's about the only main difference. Blacks are great, just too expensive for the higher capacity and the Blues got nothing on the Toshiba speed wise if you are transferring a lot of files. As far as longevity, imo you always taking a risk with any drive, and while it's nice they stand behind their product, i'd rather just have it not fail than worry about a warranty. It's more likely i'd just go buy a new drive. But if a drive lasts past 6 months or a year of general usage it is likely a good drive and will last years anyway. I actually haven't had a single HD fail me in 20 years. In fact i just pulled a 10 year old Samsung Spinpoint that was still going strong as a storage drive for the last 4 years after being my main drive for 6 years.
