I am upgrading this more because I wanted a new motherboard that offered wifi and bluetooth which my current Hero 7 board does not have... Also DDR3 to DDR4... So yes for me that is a significant upgrade... Thanks guys I will look into Alphacool and as far as the EVGA G3 everything I have read has been positive reviews so I guess I will have to dig deeper on that, But I always run 750 watt PSU because I run a lot of hard drives and Previously I did have SLI... I could maybe step down 100 watts on this build though because SLI aint gonna happen. Thanks a lot for your input.

Even is you have a Sandy Bridge, it is not worth it to go to another i5 other than CL. Save it!

If you insists - keep the GTX 970.

I run the owners club and almost everyone that bought a G3 and comes into the club complains about the noise when used in hybrid fan mode
If you dont believe that feel free to ask anyone that has a G3 if its loud when used in hybrid fan mode or not.

The SSD still makes sense and would be a huge upgrade going from an HDD
SSD and a new GPU is still an upgrade

If you got an upgrade itch you could get a better monitor if you want to spend money
Dont know what you got now but if its a 1080P monitor then you should upgrade that instead.

Why not even consider a ryzen build? Your gonna get so much more bang for your buck, a cheaper motherboard, and a CPU thats much more future proof, like the 1600 as an example.

Sorry I been out of the game for years I dont even know what that is, if its AMD then no Im not into AMD at all... Im just gonna proceed with everything but the CPU and MOBO then do that when CL drops like everyone suggested...

I would personally upgrade everything that you can carry over to a new platform in the future. SSD, GPU, chassis, cooling... Then upgrade the platform when you are getting a substantial upgrade.

Remember that you also need new memory, and right now memory is expensive. The same memory I got last currently costs about 2x what I paid from Newegg.

Im currently holding off from getting a wanted/needed gpu because the prices are ridiculous due to the mining craze. Once they stabilize probably around Q4, then I will evaluate.

Link? They are still one of the more recommended kits on the market (I think the EK Predator was cancelled partially due to leaks IIRC?).

If EK dont make their kits either then its either Alphacool or air cooling

There are a few others worth considering: BeQuiet SilentLoop, Fractal Kelvin (*NOT* Celsius) come to mind
