I've just built my first PC but now I'm absolutely stumped as to how to install windows 10 from my usb stick?!
I think my USB is formatted as it has been renamed to CCSA_X64FRE_EN-US_DV5 with the following files on it.
autorun.inf
boot
bootmgr
bootmgr.efi
efi
setup.exe
sources
support
I have a x370 Asus prime pro motherboard.
I flashed the latest BIOS no problem but there is no clear area on the bios to install the operating system from the USB drive.
PC specs
ryzen 1700x
32gb gskill 2x16gb 3200mhz
1080 TI EVGA FTW3
x370 prime pro asus
Anyway, just check the manual to see how to boot from a USB device. What's getting you stuck is, you're looking for some indication for how to install an operating system from a flash drive. What you want to know is how to boot the motherboard from a USB device.
On page '3-28' of the manual, look for Boot Option Priorities and Boot Override. You can use either of them. Boot Override is for times like this when you just want to boot from something else temporarily. The manual says you'll find this in the Boot Configuration area.
I just did that, so I've selected all the "drives" to boot off, ranging from my usb stick to the SSD I have, ALL of them still just take me to the BIOS?
I'm not seeing anything like a windows screen load up or anything, I'm baffled.
These items specify the boot device priority sequence from the available devices. The
number of device items that appears on the screen depends on the number of devices
installed in the system.
To select the boot device during system startup, press <F8> when the ASUS Logo
appears.
These items displays the available devices. The number of device items that appears on
the screen depends on the number of devices installed in the system. Click an item to start
booting from the selected device.
Then it's probably not formatted correctly to support this operation. I think they're supposed to be formatted FAT 32. I don't know how a Mac would format it.
Is anyone able to create the file for me? I can download the ISO but I cannot run the windows media tool as its not mac compatible. Or is there no other way to get the windows 10 64 bit on this USB stick?
You just need to extract the ISO onto the USB flash drive. An ISO is a bit like a .zip file or .rar file. It contains files. It's an image file. If all you have on there is the ISO (1 file), then that's why it's not working.
you will still need your windows key to activate the download once you install it unless its linked to your Microsoft account in which case it should just need to be verified...
It was a problem with the MAC & how it was formatting my USB device, all done now & up and running.
Got my 1700x running cool & stable on air @ 3.8ghz 1.35v (tried 3.9ghz at 1.35v but was unstable on prime 95 after about 10mins I'm reluctant to go much higher with the voltage as I don't want to damage the chip.
that could just be a problem with the ram settings, someone has posted something about cleaning up the ram setup in bios in the coffee lake thread and generating a major boost in frame rates .... complete with timings and multiplier changes, you might wanna message them about the results maybe they can help you out with that
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
