PCI Express Slots for Additional Sata Drives

Any recommendations for this? I used a SIIG product and it didn't seem to work very well. The drives would be there and then they wouldn't. They would stick around for 30 minutes at start up and disappear.

I did not realize that using the M.2 on my motherboard would be an instead of 2 sata drives.mad.gif

Check out LSI MegaRaid cards, you have a range of features, raid support, 8 or 16 drives, sata 3gb and 6gb etc etc.

Im running an LSI 9207-8i or a 9210-81 i forget, there's lots of similar ones. Can run 8 sata drives off the two sas ports using mini-sas to 4xsata cables. I'm running 7 off mine, it cost around US$75

They are solid and you can get them cheap from ebay.

What is the last sentence you wrote.... haha, the motherboard you have disables all the sata ports when you have m.2 drive plugged in?

My mother board has 6 sata ports and 2 m.2 ports. Using an m.2 port disables 2 of the sata ports each.

I was unaware of this when I picked it up. Once I had everything hooked up I was convinced something was broken. Took me a couple hours to find what the real issue was.
