Nintendo has announced that we'll see more stock of the upcoming SNES Classic Edition, and a return to stores for its seemingly discontinued predecessor, the NES Classic Edition. In a press release, Nintendo announced that, "Due to incredible demand for the upcoming [SNES Classic], Nintendo plans to ship the retro-inspired product into 2018. Originally, shipments were announced to cease at the end of this calendar year."

The Way Nintendo has handled this so far really makes me mad.

I also can't preorder things in the middle of the night, for items that sell out in seconds.

Even with ToyRus having them on day one, its a friday... People work fridays....

I would be 70% of these are being bought just for resale, just like the NES mini.

Almost makes me think Amazon is handling the Supply of items.

Nintendo makes no sense.

Bring out the Futurama meme of Fry telling them "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY" but Nintendo just refuses

indeed.

Can you guys just be happy, for once? They're responding to public interest in their product, and announcing increased stocks. How is this anything other than a good thing?

Yes, Yes I do. I also want it personally delivered by Reggie and before he leaves I want him lick the bottom of my boot after I step in dog crap.

And way to not get the point of the post.
NES Classic had a super short life span even tho Nintendo PR was telling everyone not to worry about stock as more was on its way... Which was a lie as usual from them.
SNES when it would be available for sale in the USA was kept hush hush till the very last moment when things went up for sale at 4AM.

Nintendo out of the three console manufactures is the laziest and most incompetent when it comes to knowing demand for their products and keeping a steady flow of stock. Not only that Nintendo of America is like a fat buffoon that has no idea what his other half of its body is doing (Nintendo of Japan).

honestly dont see why there's so much interest in this. i mean its not original, and any1 can dl a emulator and find all the games at the click of a mouse...i still have my original Snes and if i bought a new 1, i;d play it for maybe 5 mins lose interest store it away in the closet with my old snes collecting dust....lol

Collectors, i still play both mine. As well hdmi, no crappy picture, decent sound.

I prefer to play on real hardware, but the games are amazing that are included

The general public isn't going to figure out how/where to download emulators and get them to work properly...

IIRC most 8/16 bit era emulators are unzip to a folder and run the .exe. It couldn't really be any simpler.

All I can say is..... Got mine.

I was kinda suprised that when I got to the store I was very first in line and got there about 45 min before they opened.
Doesn't matter to me, as long as I was able to get one I'm happy.

Who else went out and snagged one?

I'll probrably try to get one of the classics when they reappear but if I don't get one, so be it.

I got one. I stood in line for about 45 minutes before a Target opened, and I was in the mid-20's out of 58 units sold. The line only exceeded 58 a couple of minutes before the doors opened.

Given the numbers I've seen, I do actually believe them about the increased stocks. If you didn't get one today it might take some clever delivery truck stalking, but it should be doable. Nowhere near like the NES Classic was.

I agree, availability is MUCH better for this launch than before.

Got mine from Gamestop, when the doors opened and as I was getting it I noted they had about 10 units on the shelf behind the register.

Probrably had a few more in the back and certainly for those who pre-ordered and paid those had to be reserved but availability was good overall. I can however promise by now all stores are probrably sold out by now except for those yet to open due to the difference in time zones. This one was reserved but I don't believe in my case it would have mattered since the wife only reserved it, didn't pay anything towards it when she did so.... Probrably would have been sold anyway except for me being there to get it.

No, it's not being scalped either - All mine.

Hate admitting this but I did scalp a few NES Classics. Hard to resist when for the price of $65 and a few hours in the cold you can make $300 the next day. Just picked up an SNES Classic yesterday, but I don't think I'll sell it anytime soon. IMO, the SNES games are much more refined and have A LOT more playability compared to the previous console. Plus, Super Mario RPG, Super Contra, and Super Metroid make $85 a huge value compared to buying the carts on eBay. My only gripe with the SNES Classic is that the controller cables are still laughably short (although I'm beginning to think it's a limitation of the connection interface Nintendo used).

Can't wait for mine to arrive! Ordered it from Amazon France and should be here the beginning of next week. Glad to hear some people out there found some units! There is plentiful supply here but RETAIL price starts at $160 US... so yea, they will continue to sit on the shelves. With that said, I can't believe people are paying scalpers price.

Already Nintendo has put 10x more units on shelves this launch compared to the NES Classic and they will continue to pump both consoles well into next year. Glad they have begun to address the problem.

but yeah they handled it strangely, it's almost like they waited just long enough for anyone that was willing to pay $400 for a nes mini (from one of the people that bought 50 of them) to do their thing and buy it, and then release some more.

Sure glad I didn't get suckered into one of the $100 nes mini deals i saw.

Picking up my snes tomorrow

Maybe they figured not as many people would want one given how easy it is to make something similar with raspberry pi type devices.
