Ah man, don't get me started. I've seen threads where it was asked if its reasonable to upgrade from at 1070 to 1070ti. Simply amazing how they has them hooked.

If you can get a 980 Ti for <$300 that'd be my recommendation right now. yessir.gif

Disclaimer: I am a proud (and loud) 980 Ti owner and I might be just a tad biased. smile.gif

You know 1070ti vs 980ti would be an interesting comparison though.

So..

GTX 1070ti MSRP - $449 and most cards going for like $500?

Seems like a waste of time..

(Prices based on Newegg current prices)

Cheapest current price for a 1070 $409.99 on Amazon

Some poor schmucks like myself have been biding our time with our Haswell i5s and GTX 780s hoping that the Volta desktop GPUs would have been getting launched about this time to coincide with Coffee Lake... which seems to be a decision that is backfiring on me to the point that I may as well wait until next year to upgrade to CL-X / Volta or IL i7-K / Volta. I have my doubts that Ice Lake will work with Z370... just a hunch...

Assuming you're making a Vega reference, the difference is that NVIDIA can actually provide adequate stock of 1070Ti cards at launch. Not only that but they can do so without deceptive kickbacks to selected dealers for the first handful of units to manipulate reviewer scores, nor have to rely on forced bundles to overcome the BoM cost exceeding an illusory stand-alone MSRP.

Now this is interesting,
Scan is labeling the GTX 1070 as EOL from EVGA.
https://www.scan.co.uk/products/evga-geforce-gtx-1070-founders-edition-8gb-gddr5-vr-ready-graphics-card-1920-core-1506mhz-gpu-1683mh

Also Gainward version as well.

Now they aren't saying the item is "out of stock" they are saying it's EOL. There is a big difference here.

The same for the Asus Founder's Edition on Superbiz

https://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?name=AS-G10708G&c=CJ

BUT these are founder's edition along with some of the earliest aftermarket custom cards... so it's not surprising to see them running out of stock and not making more of them.

Yeah, I think it does give pause to the 1070 being discontinued and to be replaced by the 1070ti. But it's still early and there hasn't been anything new about this as of yet.

I personally believed, for a while, that there would be a 1070ti. With the RX56 trumping it and mind share knowing this as a whole I don't doubt nvidia for releasing the 1070ti. But will they is still an entire story in and of itself.

With AMD's alleged road map with PCIe 4.0 being 3rd quarter 2018. I just don't see AMD giving a response in time. Unless they've already re-spun the RX skus this summer and need the rest of this year to get the bulk out to AIB's (just a theory on my part, no proof). Furthermore, it wouldn't be the 1st time AMD had yield so high that they software cut dies for lower tier performance to only regain it with a bios update.
