Has anyone done a step-up on an openbox GPU? The page says Only new purchases qualify for the Step-Up program.
EVGA lists only authorized GPU resellers (https://www.evga.com/products/wheretobuy.aspx) are allowed such as:
Amazon
Newegg
Cental Computers
B & H
Best Buy
Fry's
Microcenter
NCIX US
Outlet PC
New, as in you only have 90 days after your purchase to step-up, so the card would still be in its early days of usage. I've looked into it plenty of times, since I mainly get EVGA cards....
Was the GPU an "Open Box" product when you bought it? This would be questionable, since they repeatedly stress the "New" part....
I figure since there are so many GTX 1070 Ti rumors I could get a cheaper GTX 1060 or even GTX 1050 Ti and then step up to a GTX 1070 Ti. I know it's 90 days to step-up.
GTX 1070s are still running around $450 due to miners

Unless one of the resident EVGA reps chimes in with some info to the contrary, the rules seem to be referring to new ones. I'm thinking that would likely be the reasoning for what retailers they've listed - trying to eliminate the possibility for used units.
Perfectly understandable reasoning on your part. I would definitely be exploring every option possible as well. I have the 1070 (bought well over 90 days ago), and wouldn't mind being able to move to the Ti either.
