PG279Q is almost 2 years old while PG27VQ hasn't released yet
PG279Q with IPS panel while PG27VQ with TN panel + Quantum Dot Technology
I'm interested to know... between these two monitors, which one has better quality picture and color?
Also, I would like to want to know if majority of you guys here would go for (PG279Q) IPS panel or (PG27VQ) TN panel + Quantum Dot Technology?
If the PG27VQ would be properly calibrated to 2.2 gamma and has better QC for BLB (no need to worry about IPS glow with TN), it has the potential to be the better monitor.
But we don't know yet. Seems to take forever to come out.

You won't be able to do that yourself, it depends on the manufacturer if they provide 2.2 gamma. Software correction causes banding, and doesn't even work in all games.

Well... there's very tiny IPS glow on lower right corner and upper right corner, but it doesn't look as noticeable as in the picture above. In the picture, you can see IPS glow right away, but if you see it in person, you would have to stare at the screen to barely notice IPS glow.
I would wait for a review of the pg27vq, although I dont think the quantum dot layer would bring the TN to IPS levels. I just bought an XB271hu and it came with some bleed, though it wasnt too bad compared to most of the ones that people submitted pictures of in the official xb271hu thread. I read that some people experienced improvement over the first week or two so I decided to wait. It improved around 20% over the first week but I was still unsatisfied and about to return it when I read that someone improved their bleed by taking a microfiber cloth and massaging the areas where bleed was present. I took a cloth and vigorously massaged the top right and bottom right corners where the bleed was the worst, the next day 90% of the bleed was gone. I massaged the area REALLY hard though, thinking to myself that i was gonna return it tomorrow anyways. It wasnt bad initially but for a 700$ dollar monitor I was gonna return it if it wasnt at least almost perfect. I would recommend that if you can wait just wait, or if you wanna try one of the current IPS ones to order it from Amazon where you can get easy returns and keep in mind the trick that improves bleed.
ISO 1600
ISO 800
The ISO 800 is how it actually looks in a pitch black room, only the bottom left corner is noticeable and i haven't applied the trick to it yet, I wanted to wait to have a reference to see the improvement on top right and bottom right corners. ISO 1600 is to give a better idea where the bleed is. I have tested several dark games like F.E.A.R and it went from unplayable(imo) to not noticeable at all.
So to answer your question I would by the current IPS ones if you cant wait, you dont really lose anything if you dont mind returning it and trying the trick that I did. Manufacture date of mine is AUG 2017 if anyone is curious.
The PG27VQ does not have a quantum dot display, unfortunately. As my PG27VQ arrived I've contacted the German PR manager and he gave me the information that this monitor will have 2 versions:
PG27VQ: TN
PG27VQR: TN Quantum Dot (which will be released later this year)
Here you can find my review, if you have any questions, feel free to ask

lol $1k for a PG278Q with QD? No HDR even not like it can do it well since its TN. NO TY. Would easily rather spend $400 on a 1440p 144hz IPS freesync monitor instead or buy a used gsync counterpart for $500. QD is not worth $500 especially not on a TN.

Sorry for delayed response, I think I actually got one of the best PG279Q. It's very tiny backlight bleed on top right corner. You would have to stare at it really hard to notice it
I think if you get PG279Q with backlight bleed issue, Amazon will ship you the new one first, and you have like 30 days to return the old one. That's why I always love to order from Amazon, their RMA, return, and refund is really hassle free! At first, I was really about backlight bleed because many buyers mentioned it, but I figured it was worth to give it a try.
If you are gonna get Volta, I guess you can get 1080 gaming x now while waiting for Volta. If you want 1080 gaming x to last 1-2 years, I'd suggest you go for 1080ti FTW3
Yeah they have great policy. I gonna order from another store, but I have 14 days for return without a reason.
True, I think i will stick to the 1080 and see
Thanks
