Delidding still available on Broadwell SKUs?

I was interested in building an X99 system, so I was wondering if I could still send a chip in for delidding. I was unsure since it's no longer listed.

Aren't the Broadwell-E's soldered? Not in need of delidding if that's the case.

This only further confuses me why they went back to TIM on Skylake-X.

I know. I just bought an i7-7820X from SiliconLottery and it was, of course, delidded because the HEDT processors now come with Intel's famous pigeon pooh TIM. I had considered BW-E since it was the last of the soldered CPU's but I think they don't OC as well since it was their first run on that process node and it wasn't as optimized as it is today.

As I recall, BW-E needed a bit more voltage and didn't quite OC as well ... even though soldered ... as was hoped. Still, they are a rockin' CPU.

We did offer delidding for Broadwell-E for those who wanted to attempt going direct die, but don't any longer. It wasn't very popular, and a lot of people had difficulties getting it working correctly.

I've tried to go without a lid on my old Haswell, there was 0 difference. I wonder if a bigger die of coffee lake would benefit from not having a lid with water cooling and liquid metal thermal compound (or water you guys would suggest). If it allows to drop a few more degrees, I'd like mine without a lid.

Depends what BW do you mean, the 1150 or 2011 ones? If the question is to SL if they still offer it, well check their website, nothing easier than that.

I mean 1151, coffee lake. I wonder if for those CPUs it would be worth running them without the lid.
