I already hate steam. But it is able to be worked around
I miss old days of true hardware. Aka i OWN the game
Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying having an internet connection is a solution. There simply isn't one.
Because as your scenario sketches. Those without internet will be punished if some internet connection piracy prevention takes place.
On the other hand, if there isn't one, games will continue to be cracked and thus pirated.
Altho i dislike steam myself and i would very much dislike requiring an internet connection to play games, i do see this happening in the future.
Because we've got to be realistic here. a lot of games are being pirated. And that is not right.
Then again, i feel that the quality of games, the lack of demos, the abominations they call "pre-orders" and the milking they call "DLC's" really don't help in preventing piracy.
