[Steam] Windows 7 makes huge market share gain in Sept. - Page 13

Actually Coffee Lake appears to be unofficially supported by 7. Windows updates work with no modding of anything.

I have using windows 10 for 2-years and I happy with it. Much better than windows 7

Unlike what people claim, windows 10 did not violate my privacy in anyway. After 2 year of use, nobody knows any private information about me.

I heard people saying that location in windows 10 violate my privacy ?! LOL 1st of all, how can anyone know my exact location without having GPS on my PC/laptop ?! 2nd of all, location can be turned off on windows 10.

Thats one of the reason why I don't take windows 10 hater words seriously. Google also know my location (not exact location, just country and city), and they provide search results based on my location. This does not violate anyone privacy anyway

To each his own.

downgrade ?!

Windows 10 = more secure, has DX12, has HDR, can play more media format (if you do not install 3rd party media player), can pause and resume copying files to flash or other hard disk, has edge which way better than internet explorer, Task manager has more details (like GPU and wifi usage) and many more features

This alone makes me question your statment, it was well documented that Win10 does violate privacy by collecting information about you. They even posted a statment about how they were "reducing the amount of data collected". Splitting hairs if you believe it's a viloation of your privacy but it does do it.

IMHO I've built 2 PC's for people with Win10 by request and both have been a pain in the backside, the developer updates that keep undoing all the uninstalled programs and settings not being saved ( on the rare occasion ) The amount of work that has to be done to Win10 to make it 'bareable' to me, isn't worth the install.

As for the rest of your comment, DX12 doesn't do much imho and HDR just is .. well 'meh' you don't -need- win10 for HDR. I cannot see much of a reason for it and top of my list of reasons -not- to use it is the data collection. As an Avid win7 user I will stay as long as I can, either until I'm absolutely forced to goto win10 or something happens in Linux circle.

Used Windows 10 for about 8 months and went back to 7. Terrible OS. Windows 7 works just fine on X399 and still has like 2 years of support. Enough for me to slowly migrate to Linux. tongue.gif

Or install linux, put in a cheap GPU for linux to use and pass over the original one to a VM. Voila, you can use win7 this way for a very long time... biggrin.gif Or in worst case with the same technic you can cut off spyware10 from the net with a white listing firewall configured on the linux host.

Spy10 is a real pain, especially when it decides that some settings needs to be reverted to default and reinstall crapware store and the other junk without my permission.... And if someone needs the original start menu dont "uninstall"(live linux, Shift+Del) cortana because the start menu will stop working. If someone uses a 3rd party replacement its no biggie.

Again, this rise of Windows 7 is only because Chinese PUBG players. Most people aren't switching back to windows 7 from 10, It's mostly new accounts from China being created. thumb.gif

Can you be more specific ? What information they collect ?! Does this information having anything to do with my privacy anway (like my password, personal photos in my comptuer) ?!

If an microsoft emplyees can access people passwork, bank account etc then you will see million of people complaining about their passwords and bank accounts stolen (unless if microsoft workers are saint).
Not even a single windows 10 user have their email, password, private info that got stolen

I hate to disagree with you. But micrsoft workers does not know anything about anything that I want to keep private. My personal photo have been never got leaked online, my passwork never got stolen, my name and personal address has not been leaked online and used against me. I challenge you to prove me wrong with real proof.. Million winodws 10 users out their and not even a single one that got hurt by violation of their privacy

Have fun chewing through it, and this is only how much they admit. But i bet this isnt the full list....
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/configuration/windows-diagnostic-data

Pretty extensive data mining for a paid OS IMHO. Plus it evades any attempts to block them(except for a white listing firewall but it isnt worth the trouble, its easier to switch to another os than to play whack-a-mole with MS) so MS remains in not to be trusted category.
