Sigh. You can't even approach being able to take a joke can you? We get your "Oil is evil" agenda and your opinion that fossil fuels should be banned immediately, but really, do you have to get so salty whenever someone says anything (in a humorous manner at that) that contradicts your own personal world view?

Obviously the proper way to go about illustrating your points and persuading people to your way of thinking is to go straight to calling anybody that disagrees with you "ignorant". Is that the way of it?

Ignorance? You mean ignoring the damage mining does to the planet because you believe your breath is heating the world up like an oven? That type of ignorance?

At least someone got it biggrin.gif

Electric cars are not experimental as they weren't before lithium batteries became common, you can build in your garage an electric car that has even better range than all the Teslas sold. Electric cars have been around possibly even longer than gasoline powered ones. Experimental after over a century? Don't think so. There were cars and trucks running on electric only in early 20th century, and they started to be made in 19th century. So yeah Tesla is soooo ahead of time... not at all, just remaking the wheel.

Sure we now have better magnets, batteries, electronics overall, making electric vehicles more viable. The range still depends largely on battery size and how much power you want to consume.

Estimated:

Quote:
LTL shippers account for around 13.6 percent of America's trucking sector. Estimates of 15.5 million trucks operate in the U.S.. Of this figure 2 million are tractor trailers. It is an estimated over 3.5 million truck drivers in the U.S. Of that one in nine are independent, a majority of which are owner operators.

Trucks in the US move a lot of merchandise, if not most merchandise one way or another. This is a future bet by Elon.

he should invest in cargo planes and ships too.

the ships in particular could even function as fully solar and wind powered.

I'm glad someone saw him overreact and decided to raise him and overreaction. The irony is thick tbh lol.

Both prev posts had some humor tho one slightly went off with "ignorance".But this post is a bit unhinged altogether... smile.gif

Electric is only as clean as what is used to produce it. Electricity is still produced mainly by burning coal. Wind turbines and solar panels can't produce enough electricity. Nuclear power is amazing but has its own host of problems obviously. Electricity isn't magic power that comes without emissions....I don't understand why people can't grasp this.

Probably not enough Hydroelectric dams either.

That said, the old business model of middle east OIL likely drove US interests in this area that are not already OWNED by the Old-School US Oil industry. If left up to them there would be no innovation or other alternatives. I think that's what it comes down to.

And don't forget manufacturing of batteries. Most of which used to be very toxic and many still are quite very environmentally unfriendly. There isn't enough lithium for global adoption anyway. It's all about batteries until there are some magical solar panels which will probably never happen.

[citation needed]

Solar and wind are a lot cheaper than fossil fuels, and solar in particular is getting better at a ridiculous rate. Remember that, odds are, your government subsidizes the price of fossil fuels. That's taxpayer dollars they're spending, paid by you, which means the price per kWh of carbon-based power is a bit higher than your bill says.
