I am guessing that you are in a country, that will only allow internet purchases from certain web sites, is this correct?

if my assumption is correct, what websites do you have the ability to buy from?

it is possible to get fully functional ebay TEC's, I have some, but I needed to buy more that I wanted to get 3 good ones. what sucks is that a test build will need to be assembled, to actually test each of the ebay TEC's gotten, so that only the fully functional ebay TEC's are used on the final build.

well when your ready to start a new build, start a build log for it as well.
lots of idea's in this section, not a lot of operational builds.

honestly man..

This is insane lol

400 watt 62mmx62mm x5mm height Peltier Plate, this thing would need its OWN PSU lol Just ONE TEC lol

i think ive emerged from Caveman status into an age of flying cars almost lol

Aliexpress TEC-12740

upto 16v, 40A, 338 watts

Approx $35 delivvered

CustomThermoElectric.com - Part No; 19911-5P31-28CZ

Upto 16v, 40A, 400 watts

approx $57 + $55 Shipping to UK., $112 delivered, eeeeeeeeeeek !

Apart from the seriously overpriced shipping here & maybe a comparison on Quality, if/when my budget could ever (lol) aafford to start buying cooling gear again,, i'd still buy from Aliexpress, even if i had more money than sense lol

Actually,, if i did have more money than sense,, id buy from both then write up a comparison on quality lol

But as always, take my posts with a pinch of salt & ultimately, its your call

Super-Awesome TEC plates too, a major OMG moment lol !!!

yes, TEC's require lots of power.

I have 6 power supplies for 12 TEC's,. 6 X 331watt 31volt 18amp, powered by 3 X 26.4 volt power supplies, and 6 X 225watt 24volt 15amp. powered by 3 X 13.2 volt power supplies, one power supply for every two TEC's.

You guys are LEGENDS !!

Holy Crapola GREAT-SCOT !!!!!!!!!!!

ARGH !

PSU manufacturer's are filthy rich due to our little niche of water chilling lol

China is hell bent on not supplying us with bare-transformers,, at their usual cheaper Aliexpress style pricing, this is the main problem and expense for starting to make ones own PSU... That many Amps, scavengged transformers are close to a Microwave's transformer.. Believe me,, ive tried to look into to create my own high current PSU's, just out of spite because i HATE ANYONE holding a monopoly over making an item that i may need multiple of..

might have to revisit where i left off from and see if thats still the case with transformers..

an old Electrical Engineer friend keeps telling me that Peltiers are terribly inefficient, i know he's right but i dont care - i want water chilling LOL

And i DONT want to get into refrigerant-style due to being in the Rip-off UK, its just gonna cost the same as owning a damn high octane dragster here lol and thats just probably an entry-level chiller that hasnt got any readouts LOL.. well,, not far off i reckon lol

Still - my hats off to you guys here, this is some serious eye candy for me haha more and more impressed with what ya'll are upto day by day

Those aren't bad...but they are no TN669

http://www.thermonamic.com/TEHC1-19940-English.PDF .

Keep in mind these charts are all theoretical, extropolated from a single couple to get an inflated idea of performance. The TN669 is in real use closer to 500w...but still the most powerful widely known TEC and a single one can handle an i7 @ 5ghz with single digit cold plate temps no problem.

For comparison, the CTE400 you listed pulls roughly ~12.5A at 12v, while the TN669 pulls roughly 18A. Actual performance is about 20% higher - much lower than the charts would suggest, but still a beast.

They are MUCH more powerful and efficient then they were 10-15 years ago

WTH-OMG-SERIOUSLY ! 700w+ TEC !

You guys are my new gods of this new religion lolz

Eh ?!? Do you mind, i was in the middle of sorting you guys out in order of god or deity, lol

jus kidding lolz

Yarp well said and seeing how im literally on my last straw PSU-Wise, i'd definitely be trying to go the route for an economical and low-power friendly system.

I dont think i'll have enough waterblocks to go higher than a 2 peltier system, i would have been just able to make 3 but one of my waterblocks are trashed AND its an aluminum on, well, um.......

The water chilling part will be using aluminum & copper so mayhems XT-1 Nuke with its added biocide and anti-corrosives will be in both loops...

Ugh, so as i move back into my room, i know i saw some empty blueray discs still sealed so ill throw those on ebay sooo i can afford to buy at least another 2 waterblocks for another 2 peltiers, if i think i remember where those were lol

ive seen an aluminum long waterblock on aliexpress, but its an all aluminum design, good anough to fit say, two 30x30mm peltiers side by side with some wriggle room

There is an all copper version too but very very expensive.. So at a bare minimum, with just another waterblock that can fit 2 TEC's or two individual blocks, i'd be in the ball park

this is where the automation of your thermostat is vital for using as low an amount of power as possible - i think it is because of this piece of electronics, is why you have a very nice low power consumption and efficiency of the entire system has been increased

im speaking to jedi95 on another thread to see if i could use his desktop GUI software with my Arduino hardware that i made up, on paper, many years ago, not tested it yet but he has tested his, im thinking if my design works, id have all the partss needed to make up a prototype at home

hopefully itll be low powered/high efficiency too but i dont have as much insulating items, i need to scavenge for being able to effectively insulate the cold sidess of the TEC's and cold tubing, just out on my desk, not on a running system, just to play about with to see how its going to work with my limited gear and finds, well.... no funds lolz

But once again, thanks man, thanks for continuing to be a source of inspiration
