Some people are saying a couple days and some people are saying a couple weeks. I doubt any of them actually know.

I was holding out, hoping to get a decent I7 8700k + Asus motherboard combo (and possibly ram too) on a Black Friday or Cyber Monday deal. But now it's looking like that's going to be an extremely unlikely possibility. I'm certainly not counting on it.

A lot of the games I like playing are extremely CPU intensive, and some of them will use the extra cores/threads, which makes the new I7 markedly better than kaby for me.

I put my 8700K build this morning. It’s running 5.0ghz on all 6 cores. Haven’t had much time to play/test yet but will all tonight and tomorrow. I was one of the lucky ones that caught the Reddit thread the other night at 230am. It sold out in like 30min. I got that and my Strix board overnight so it arrived this morning.

so as earlier posters have been posting, that the 10th the item will be in stock... that is very interesting, and hopefully true
Do u get ur 8700k on hands already? I saw that image too, and my understand was that those 8700k will be in stock in order to ship to those who ordered on 5th.

Picked up an i7-8700k and Maximus X Hero from Newegg.ca yesterday. Preorder opened up for a brief window and I was able to backorder one, with a quoted shipment time of 1-2 days. I've been charged for it and I imagine it'll ship tomorrow.

And I paid the equivalent of $385US for it ($480 CDN)

Edit: Correction: Newegg.ca just emailed me tracking...it's already shipped...

If that's true, I will keep my eye out for one. I could use the improved single thread performance.

Canada Computers here in Canada, spoke to a manager I know this morning, he stated that CC has 2000 8700K in their warehouse but are not allowed to release them for some reason. They are also not allowing pre-orders at most of their stores (although some seem to be doing it regardless). CC has quite a few locations in Canada and now that NCIX closed down all of it's Ontario locations, they are the only big brick and mortar retail chain left.

Odd that they have been prohibited from releasing the chips into the stores despite the embargo being lifted.

newegg canada has taken the 8700k SKU off their site.... The 8700 is still there (out of stock). I had an 8700k pre-order that I got a notification that it was cancelled due to insufficient stock...

I can't recall the last time it was so hard to get a newly released intel chip. This is simply bizarre.
