I've also seen a report of poor VRM cooling, this is just going by Newegg reviews:

I have an 8700k on the way and am in the market for a mobo, coming from an i7 4930k from 2014, to say I'm excited would be an understatement.

Coming from an Asus Rampage IV Black Edition ($400+ mobo) I feel shorted in that 70% of my fan headers now refuse to run at the speed they are set to in bios or in AI Suite 3 (they just run at 100%, I have 4 140mm fans all hooked up to Cha. Fan 3, one of the last remaining headers that doesn't run at 100%) the 2nd PCI-E slot, a x16 slot, won't run faster than x8, and going by the reports of V-Droop errors with Asus' Strix Z370 E (and F) I'm pretty much over Asus.

Right now I'm considering:

1. AS Rock TaiChi
2. Aorus Gaming 7

If my 1080 Ti can't fit on the latter then it's going to have to be AS Rock's Taichi, as plain jane as that board looks.

Hi, I have a Lighting Z 1080ti and an Aorus.
No issues. And the Vrm ie fine hovering mid 60's @4.7ghz oc all cores.

AlphaC, do you know whether Asrock Z370 Gaming Professional i7 have jumper for 2nd BIOS too? Since Taichi is out of stock for the moment in my nearest stores. Thanks

seems it does
- 1 x BIOS B Select Jumper
https://www.asrock.com/MB/Intel/Fatal1ty%20Z370%20Professional%20Gaming%20i7/index.asp#Specification

http://asrock.nl/downloadsite/Manual/Fatal1ty%20Z370%20Professional%20Gaming%20i7.pdf

It usually isn't worth the price premium over the Taichi. Also the Taichi seems to have gotten more timely BIOs updates and fewer users report the sinopower dual-N mosfets.

What is the Dual-N sinopower mosfets report about? Bad? Looks like i will be waiting for taichi again. Is gb z370 gaming 5 aorus good?

GBT Gaming 5 is alright , I wouldn't buy it if the Asrock Fatal1ty K6 is cheaper though (Gaming 5 is better than STRIX-E however). If you care about audio a lot maybe the GBT Gaming 5 could be a better board. The wifi feature is a simple add-in card for the K6.

There's two variants of all Asrock boards higher than Extreme 4: one is with Sinopower SM7341EHKP mosfets, which are less lossy for conduction but with slower switch times.

Ok2. I already have xonar essense stx that i will be using. So onboard audio would not be in consideration when choosing mobo.

Can anyone tell me if they have a 1080 TI FE with this board and whether or not there are fitment issues?

Going by the Newegg reviews there seems to be a conflict between the I/O shield with 1080 Ti FE and the audio flair on the board.

@Mooncheese

Here's what I could find on Reddit :

[–]psivenn8700k @ 5.1 | 1080 Ti
There are several customer reviews I've seen that complained the plastic AMP UP cover interfered with mounting their 2.5 slot 1080 Ti. Seems like a silly design flaw.

[–]Tech_Philosophy
There are two screws on the back and it comes right off......does it serve any purpose or can I just toss it?

[–]psivenn8700k @ 5.1 | 1080 Ti
I haven't messed with it but I assume it's just aesthetic.

[–]rsumara
I had the same issue.. I removed the amp up audio shroud and it fixed the problem. Tossed it in the garbage.

[–]Tech_Philosophy
I actually called gigabyte and confirmed the thing served no purpose. I intend to remove mine as well. Maybe out of principle I should return it, but I want the better VRMs and audio that the gaming 7 provides.

[–]sontran168700k/1080ti
My 1080ti FE fits just fine.

So if you encounter this type of problem, which I doubt you'll be, you can always remove the red plastic around the AMP UP to have some more clearance for your GPU. It's apparently just there to look good.

If you want to use an Optane 900p [HHHL (CEM3.0) form], that is a PCIe x4 SSD on the Z370 Taichi's PCIe x16 @ x4 slot, will you get stuck at x8 speed for the graphics card?
