Hey guys what is the general consensus with the 1070ti? I dont want to wait longer as even memory express will no longer do price beats on GPUS and they will only get in higher demand around christmas. I ended up getting the EVGA superclocked from amazon for $530 CAD which is about the best price ive seen other than the MSI OC version (not the gaming) for about the same price im just waiting for it to arrive. If the TI was released at the same price point could i not just use the EVGA step up program to get that card if it came out at the same price point? I dont really see any deals on GPUs for black friday considering the prices are inflated as it is and the demand is so high already there is no incentive to reduce the prices until volta is released sometime next year. Who knows nvidia might even delay volta even further which gives them more time to cash in on pascal...they have no real competition at the moment. Vega is a wash, it cost alot more...performance is arguable better in some games at the expense of heat and power but we have not even talked about an overclocked 1070 compared to vega.
Holy formatting. Let me fix this to help a bit.

yeah i've checked in my area...nothing for used 1080's and ive been watching since march/april and nothing worth mentioning. All the used 1070's had no receipts/warranty and they all want $500 CAD, so for an extra $30 i bought new. Prices have not budged since march and sort of getting tired of waiting. I could have got a 1080 but could not justify the extra price...especially since im still on 1080P. Also i think the 1070's next year it would be much easier to find a second one to SLI, i have never had an SLI rig before so i thought it might be kind of cool.

Really got to check your formatting when your typing my friend. It makes it hard to understand what your saying. That could be partly the reason why I'm the only one who's helping at the moment.
SLI is not worth it anymore in my opinion especially for 1080p. Prices have not budged because Vega is a wash and NV didn't see the need to decrease prices for competition. Your going to be waiting quite some time for any real price moves.
What is your current system specs now?
And please, formatting my friend. Use spaces, paragraphs, commas, and periods. So much easier to understand.

I do apologize as ive been using my Phone and its alot harder than a keyboard, however i will try my best. I dont have a video card currently as i sold my gtx 970 in march and ive been waiting ever since. I have n evga 750 bronze psu i beleive and a 6600K running at 4.5ghz on a closed water loop.
SLI not worth it, it is only becoming less and less supported with every game release, driver revision, and generation of graphics cards. Last I ran SLI the few games I played were mostly buggy and awkward to try and get working.
Just get the single best GPU you can within your budget and run the games you want without issue.
I am still running a 970 myself so I can't say how much of an upgrade a 1080 would be or similar performing card but i am sure you can find benchmarks for the titles you wish to play.
Yeah i would be skeptical buying cards on here since there is no warranty and i cannot test it, $450 works out to about $560 CAD which is the cost of a 1070 new. We have kijiji in canada which is basically craigs list in the US, just seems everyone is asking far too much to the point where you are only saving $20 which is not even worth going to a strangers house and not getting a warranty.

Yes true, the 1070 has alot more FPS in the witcher 3 and rise of the tomb raider for example compared to the 970 which i did consider... I had micro stuttering in rise of the tomb raider with the 970 and the witcher 3 with hairworks turned on. To be honest i got rid of the 970 as it only had 3.5GB ram and i had a feeling that 8gb in the new cards would be more future proof. I could be wrong but i have a feeling that 8GB will be more than enough for the next three years for 1440/1080P since consoles have 8GB shared ram. I would be surprised if VOLTA has more than 8GB in the 1170 and 1180.
In a nutshell im hoping the 1070 will last for 3 years or so playing everything on full in 1080P, i dont really see myself getting a 4K monitor. At this point i would rather purchase an occulus for a little more money since the price drop than a 4K monitor.
Really though are we not reaching a cap for silicone since pascal is 16NM to where we will see less and less performance gaps between generations of cards?

I am in a similar situation but so far i have not gotten a title that my 970 struggles with at 2560x1080 so for now i am good. might upgrade after the warranty expires in december though but i don't like the prices the current gen is sitting at. will likely wait for next gen to drop with better performance for same price or buy 1070/1080 when the next gen is out for lower prices.
titles i play: borderlands 2, far cry 4, rainbow six siege, and potentially ghost recon wildlands soon if a friend buys it for me.

it doesn't matter they are releasing a TI so its at least another 6 months before they release Volta at least, than a few months for the custom cards and a few months again for things to settle down and actually purchase one that miners are not fist fighting over. So we are looking at another year realistically, its also highly possible that they will have a refresh and push back Volta. This would make the most sense given there is little to no competition and the demand is still extremely high. From a sales perspective another year for R & D for nvidia would give them more time to start working on the next gen after Volta to push silicone to its limits which might be necessary since one would have to assume things get more expensive and more difficult reaching the limits of silicone. If the demand is there why not milk Pascal even further? I guess we just have to except that new cards are required every few years and bite the bullet though and nothing is really future proof...oh well at least i didnt buy a 980TI. Like luxury cars it seems these lose the most 2nd hand value off the lot. At any rate i picked up an EVGA 1070 SC for $530 from amazon, just waiting for it to arrive. i bought EVGA with hopes that the TI did release at the same price as the current 1070 i would be able to do the EVGA step up program.

Yeah i think thats only an evga thing for europe, never thought of warrenty transfer but most cards are only 1 year anyways except for EVGA...either way im not sure about the other brands but evga specifically states for USA and Canada that the warrenty is for the original purchaser only.

yeah its only for advanced rma. regular RMA its all serial based. i know cause i have rma cards from gigabyte to asus to evga and never asked for receipts

well i received my EVGA 1070, pretty happy with it...haven't had time to game yet though but i ran some benchmarks and getting decent scores yesterday. The only thing that would be the nail in the coffin for me would be if the TI came out at the same price. So i guess thats what the EVGA step up is for. Could i return the 1070 i have now to amazon within 30 days if its been opened? I just have a feeling that EVGA will take a while to include the TI in their step up program.
Cool so i might so that depending on the price difference
