i'm currently in the middle of compressing my archive drive, 3TB with 328GB free space, will see how much it can free up.

According to the documentation I read earlier - it is decompressed for network transmission.

Ah my bad - misconstrued "transfer".

I don't have an answer but I would be surprised if the compression was tied to the machine. There's no reason I can see for that - it uses an algorithm to process the data from one state to another.

There's one way to tell!

It should work then but the new machine should also be Windows 10.

Anyone else getting no change in the disk space while the tool shows decompression done? It even shows difference in the 'size on disk' but it doesn't end up in the free disk space when viewed from 'This PC'.

edit: I must specify that it's likely game based because most are working fine, but I didn't get any savings from Sleeping Dogs definitive edition and I think compressing Deus Ex didn't net me as much space as the tool showed(around 25GB).

There's a list of games and the amount of reduction in size you can expect. It's been dead-on with each of the games that I've tried. Some games have no difference, and some games end up with HUGE reductions. thumb.gif
