Dechanic Control vs. Artisan Hien vs. Cherry G80?

My battle worn raindrop is almost on its last legs so i figured it's time for a new pad.

Always wanted to try a rough pad seeing as how my arm/hand doesn't touch my pad whenever I use my mouse, and the allsop felt pretty inconsistent glide wise on a day to day basis, maybe humidity/temp related, and I heard rough textured pads were better with humidity.

Anyway, a lot of overclock searches later and I managed to narrow it down to these 3 pads, so if anybody could compare them based on stopping power, static friction, durability, and glide/control that would be lovely. Just curious which of the three is the easiest to stop on and control my mouse with mostly.

Also taking other suggestions for pads.

my experience, I have all 3 - using Hyperglide MS 3.0, dechanic being the 6mm version, hien being MID thickness:

static friction - all of them are excellent, top performers for cloth pads. I'd put the Hien slightly on top, Dechanic 2nd, G80 third, but all are very good!

stopping - Hien > Dechanic > G80. Hien is the only one where stopping feels like that of a smoother pad. Dechanic is definitely inbetween, and the G80 just feels more like a hardpad in that regard.

Durability - I haven't used the G80 or the Dechanic more than 8 months each now, but they seem as good as the Hien - which to say is good. I personally haven't worn out the Zowie G-TFX which is very similar, if not the same surface, but I've seen some very worn out G-TFXs. I think it might have to do with what type of feet you use?

speed/glide - G80 > Dechanic >> Hien. Hien is slow, relatively, it's more like a QcK Heavy in speed (a slightly worn one). Dechanic is pretty fast, but the G80 is slightly faster.

I personally think the Dechanic being sorta middle ground is my favourite, and it's the thickest/softest.
and the Hien and G80 don't come in big enough sizes for me personally, as I like to have my mousepad hanging off the desk slightly.
if the G80 came in 900x450mm size, I'd have to reconsider though

bottom line though, only the Hien is 'control' friendly out of these - and you do need thicker, rounded mouse feet for all of them to get the 'best' glide (IMO/IME).

raindrop wasn't so bad initially, but mine's so old that the side to side glide is much different depending on how far you are up and down the mousepad.

+rep to both of you it helped me a lot

btw @munchzilla, have you noticed any x/y differential with the other 2 pads? I think I read somewhere that the Cherry g80 is consistent both ways, but I'm not totally sure. I do remember from really really old threads that the hien had the x/y problem though, totally slipped my mind as it's been a while.

Only thing I have to say about Dechanic's pads is that they must have made the same mistake Razer did a while back with the Goliathus. In that, the Speed version of the pad has a smoother surface, causing more friction, as opposed to the Control version with bigger holes, which is faster. I've got a Dechanic Speed pad, and it's barely faster than the QcK.

well, if it is a goliathus clone as some people here have said, that mistake makes a lot of sense haha

edit: Leaning toward the dechanic or the aqua control+ (http://www.overclock.net/t/1626932/sponsored-aqua-control-by-x-ray-pad) now, the aqua control pad seems pretty tempting as well seeing as it seems really close to the hien. Their website also has a control 2, if anybody has any experience with that.

Also if somebody could comment on the x/y difference of both pads that wouldd be lovely

difference in X/Y on Hien is far more noticeable than the G80, but neither are 'free' from the problem. I didn't mind it on the G80 though, and I noticed it but wasn't bothered by it on the Hien.
I think either I'm not too sensitive about it or the type of feet make a big difference too somehow? not entirely sure to be honest.

sadly it's only 350mm tall. that's the one I have. I often end up having my mouse halfway off the pad when playing with it.

Didn't think to test for it when I was using the Speed version of the pad, but I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. I noticed an x/y difference on the Razer Goliathus, though, so I guess not at all.

Any control mousepad that has a surface like pic related should have the same x/y friction.

(Goliathus Control).

(Goliathus Control on the left; Goliathus Speed on the right).

EDIT: Sorry, I got confused. The Control is on the left.

That kind of surface should also handle ambient temperatures a lot better than surfaces that have more contact with the mousefeet.

Note: This does NOT include the old green Goliathus Speed, or anything else with a diamond-shaped weave, for that matter.
