Two years ago an American robotics company challenged a Japanese robotics company to a duel.
Their weapons of choice? Giant robots.
This long-awaited match between the monstrous robots - built by MegaBots Inc. of the U.S. and by Suidobashi Heavy Industry of Japan - will be broadcast on Tuesday via the online steaming site, Twitch. It's billed as the "first ever giant robot fight."
It really should be remote controlled (think Real Steel). With a guy inside safety will be to much of an issue to really see proper action.
Still bigger budget large scale robot battling will happen. The risk then is that it will become really boring with everyone using something like old tanks or APC's as bases.
Too bad that the second and third fights were very slow paced. If this actually gains traction, I expect there will be a lot more fights based around the smaller weight classes like was shown with the first fight.
Regardless of scripting, that OHKO was pretty cool!
Was ok I guess for pilots inside. I would be much more interested in a giant remote controlled robot fight more like Battlebots but with big ones like these. Maybe they could load real ammo in those guns so they actually do something.
While they need pilots inside of them it will never be that intresting solely due to health and safty wont allow a person to be put in harms way.
Change the rules so they have to be remote controled.
Allow any one to enter and put them out in the middle of no where and let anything other then explosives go.
Then it will be more intresting as some companys will want to show off what they got in hopes of picking up a militery contract.
Something like a arena with a few of these with guns mounted to them would be intresting as hell to watch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8YjvHYbZ9w
Without a pilot this would have been a lot more fun indeed. At least then you can actually go till one of the robots stops.
It would also have been great if the thing wasn't so damn scripted.
Then again when you have an unscripted giant robot fight the designs will actually start to become efficient ruining the whole point.
No paintball guns, no chainsaws but actually things that would wreck the opponent.

Stick to deathrace movie please if you want real guns
Leave army out of this nerd fun
Maybe candy ammos or mashmellow granades..... to stick the opponent to the ground....
