[GameRant] Dragon Age Creative Director Leaves BioWare After 14 Years - Page 2

Andromeda never should have had the Bioware name on it. Bioware basically had nothing to do with that game.

Fact is Anthem is the first project that Bioware's A team has done since ME:3.

I love everything that they've shown of Anthem (all two minutes), running around in Iron Man suits sounds way cooler than anything in Destiny, actually it almost sounds more like Warframe than Destiny, but they've got really nice looking environments.
Copying what works isn't necessarily bad, there's no reason for Overwatch to even exist, but millions of people just prefer the aesthetics of Overwatch.
Anthem is still easily my most anticipated game this generation (ok it's tied with Cyberpunk 2077, and Star Citizen won't be out of Alpha until 2020 so that's still "Next Gen").

I'm not convinced EA is the reason bioware went to crap. I think they internally suck at managing projects recently. THe original Daragons Age was fantastic then they just dumbed it down and ruined it in my experience.

EA acquires games studios and runs them into the ground. It's what they've been doing for years. Visceral was the latest fatality, and I wouldn't be surprised if Bioware is next.

Don't you dare compare a game like Anthem to Warlameframe lab rat maze in space with a hack'n'slash ninja complex. tongue.gif (seriously though i can't stand that game or how it got so far, even with f2p model)

Tribes (edit: forgot about Outwars) and Firefall (had so much potential, but things slowly derailed when they switched focus too early away from pve to pvp then back to pve but by then, too late...) are much better suited games to compare to Anthem.

But i agree with you that Anthem and Cyberpunk 2077 are the most looking forward to games to arrive soon'ish.

EA is notorious of killing aquired studios left and right. The drainage of BioWare staff members is a good indicator it is going down there too.

Ironically it is not the EA management alone that is responsible. The ongoing SJW-nonsense in gaming was never bigger than inside BioWare. In several DragonAge, Mass Effect and Uncharted games the quality was getting worse every game/patch. The latest project were managed worse than any chaotic indie-title.

I remember several occations where the devs personally attacked their complaining fans for the usual "-isms" whenever criticism hit. A sure way to close your business is to piss off your customerbase. Now the writers, creators an other members leave the sinking ship. Maybe this is a late effect of gamergate, but the crew is surely nervous.

EA needs to go / adapt.

EA did do enough to make BioWare the mess it is today.

After the DA:Origins release, EA pushed hard BioWare to release Awakening and DA2 as quick as possible.

Awakening did have a decent enough content for an Add-On, but was horribly buggy. Even community could not fix it fully.

DA2...had a good foundation, with familiar but more arcade combat than Origins, engine was decently updated and characters had depth to them. but the game was given less than a year of development and it shows with the end product. Had it been given 2 or more years to develop, we might have ended up wit ha worthy Origin's successor.

Mass Effect 3 vanilla has less content than ME2 vanilla, but less severe than DA games.

At this point, plenty of key people left the studio and more of them left in years after.

I had hopes that DA: Inquisition would be what i wanted from DA2 (a mixture of both previous games), but it ended such a disappointment for me that i listed BioWare as dead. When ME: Andromeda came out, it was everything i expected the current BioWare to make.

Also, EA's desire to push Frostbite engine into everything, did not translate into better games from BioWare. Both DA:I and ME:A told difficulties to work within the engine.

As mentioned before, EA should just kill BioWare because the studio is just a dead husk of what it used to be.

Does ME3 vanilla really have less content than ME2? I think it might be around the same length, but tons more weapons and weapon mods and armor in ME3. Otherwise I agree with everything you said. Based on what developers have said and shown of Frostbite 3, it seems really limited and overrated.

In ME 3 vanilla you essentially fight 2 factions - Cerberus and Reapers, and 1 temporarily - Geth.
To me this felt very repetitive and reused too much, especially after ME2, which had variety of mercenary factions, Collectors, Geth, various mechs and animals, krogans, batarians, probably others i forget.

As well as, ME 2 had more 'safe places' like Citadel, Illium, Omega, Tuchanka. In ME3 only Citadel for that.

This is what, from top of my head, stood out between the two games.

I'm no EA fan, but let's not kid ourselves here; Bioware did this all to themselves.
