[JokerProductions] Massive Framerate Boost for RX Vega56 with FCU (Fall Creator's Updated) - Page 11

6800k+SLI 980

Win 10 15063(1703)/Nvidia 385.41

Win 10 16299(1709)/Nvidia 385.69

I LOST performance. Not sure if it is the new build or the new drivers.

Only thing tweaked is Forced AFR2 through NVCP to allow SLI to work with this bench. mad.gif

I suggest testing it without SLI enabled, to see if it the AFR2 not working properly.
I always felt that it is kinda of a hit and miss with drivers changes.

Judging by the video, performance for the most part remains the same, and game mode became even worse. I guess the GPU section in the Task Manager is the only thing to look forward to in this update. Will refrain from forcing this update, nothing sort of promising.

Is the Joker person normally reputable? Those gains he showed don't make sense based on the video a few posts up. And I have seen more stuff saying it doesn't do anything. It seems the Original was either purposely misleading or their testing methodolgy was bad.

I got to say after my own testing the Joker findings where either made up or his system had problems.

It's definitely improved for me in Forza 7.

I tested before the update, and did the exact same as before, with the exact same settings.

My PC:
i7 6700K @ 4.6ghz
GTX 1080Ti
32GB RAM

Before:

After:

The minimum FPS has actually stuck around the same mark. It varies from run to run. As before, I ran the test 3 times and took the test with the best Average FPS and posted that result regardless of what the min and max FPS were.

It's a decent bump for sure. Though ideally it would be the minimum FPS that get the boost. I haven't tested any other games, but this higher performance was consistent in multiple runs of the Forza 7 benchmark.

I've tried enabling and disabling game mode doesn't do nothing seems it's from the OS for my this is on Ryzen 7 4.0ghz 1080Ti at 2050mhz with 3200mhz ram at 14 timings .

Firestrike results over a 6 month period. About 6 drivers with Oct 21, 2017 using 17.10.1
Graphic test 1 saw the most consistent improvement between runs. I did 2 runs. Although I did see improve in Graphics test 2 in the 1st run as you can see. It didn't pan out in the second run. However, test 1 did show an consistent improvement.

API Overhead results over a 5 month period. About 5 drivers with Oct 21, 2017 using 17.10.1
I am seeing a major improvement with DX12 and Vulkan that I didn't see much movement on from driver to driver leading up to FCU.

Because futuremark wants you to rebuy timespy again ($10) just to run the benchmark test without running the demo 1st. I've simply skipped that for now.

I don't believe this recent reviewer as that's not what I'm seeing. After watching Joker's video the community here fact checked him by looking into ourselves. And we are actually seeing an improvement. As some of you are already aware Remji and I both posted results in the forza thread just before the FCU update. Neither of us had any idea of what FCU would do. It was just the timing of posting in the Forza thread and the release of the FCU. So at the very least you can go on that.

I can't understand why some of you didn't see those improvements. But a win10 update does random improve some people's PC's and not others. We all should know this.

Oh BTW, if someone is going to stick their rep on the line with a comparison. Then do a proper comparison. I have no real need to define Joker. HU setup is simply not the same in the newer video, That is just stating the obvious. Joker used a Vega 56, Hardware Unboxing used a Vega 64 Liquid Cooled Edition among other dissimilarities. Lets further investigate this with the same setup as Joker.

Makes you wonder whether he's capable of doing what he does. He's either lying or his system(s) are having issues which could've affected all his benchmarks and work he put out for all we know. In other words, Joker is a joke. Pretty sure it's just some publicity stunt. He raked in quite a lot of views, good on him.

I trust in Steve from Hardware Unboxed. He delivers the best content concerning these topics. Pinpoint accurate.

BTW, before the update Set Timer Resolution would always show Max Resolution at desktop which is 15.625ms. It wasn't a problem because most games/apps I used always reduced it to 1.00Xms. Apps like Steam, Origin, Ubi all set it to around 1.00X ms so that wasn't an issue. Also, it was just high at desktop. Now after the FCU at desktop it's read 1.003ms. Just as it once did in win7. And that is just at desktop. No games or apps opened.

So I suggest those who are having performance issues to check for yourself to see if that was changed.
