Bitfenix Whisper M advise

Thread Starter
I´ve had an OCZ ZT-750 (750w) for 3 years and it´s still working good but a few months ago it started to have some kind of coil whine. Problem is it intensifies the noise while i´m playing any game or rendering and i´m afraid it would die at any moment and take my system with it. Therefore i´m looking for a new PSU and found a good offer on this psu (Bitfenix Whisper M 450w), and for what i saw at JonnyGuru´s it seems god but i´m worried output W wouldn´t be enough to power my system.

Specs:
  • Gigabyte GA-Z97N-Gaming 5
  • i5 4590
  • Evga GTX 780 Classified (Core@1111MHz, Mem@1502MHz)
  • 8Gb 1866MHz (2x4Gb)
  • WD Caviar Black 1Tb
  • Crucial M4 256Gb
  • OCZ ZT750 750w (current psu with coil whine)

Thanks in advance.

IDK, i don´t have something to measure it, but from what i saw in some reviews it takes ~235w.

Unless you have BIOS volt mods on your GPU your power draw is somewhere around 350 watts at full load for the whole system
You could get away with a 450 watt but its not going to be quiet and you dont have a lot of headroom left

I would recommend the 550 watt instead

Thanks, forgot to mention i like to overclock, so a little headroom would be nice. I guess 550w-600w would be the sweet spot redface.gif
