MSI Z370M GAMING PRO AC BOOT ISSUES

Hi all,

Since I built this rig a few days ago it hasn't been right from the getgo.

When I first booted the pc, everything turned on as per usual then my monitors flickered and black screen.

Noticed the motherboard showed a red VGA light on the debug section.

Knowing 100% it can't be my gpu since I literally just used it in my previous rig, I double checked everything and still the same issue.

After a number of cmos clears I've managed to get into the bios.

Once I've made any settings whether it be a time change of fan settings or even hard drive boot settings, as soon as I select save and exit. I get the same old blank screen + vga light.

Once again I tested the gpu in my other rig and works perfect.

Again I've managed to get into bios and even reflashed it with no luck.

Now after a few more hits and misses with the system boot issues, I've managed to install windows and everything works great once I'm in there. Even had a good solid gaming session.

Now thinking my problems were done, I've gone into bios to change boot/fan settings.

Back to square one now, Once I've saved and exited I'm getting that weird vga led issue.

Sorry for the long post but if anyone else is experiencing this or knows how to fix it Please let me know.

Will be returning the board tomorrow for a refund.

Generally speaking if a motherboard has onboard video you'll need to disable it if you're using a discreet GPU.
I thought the system would automatically detect that a dedicated gpu is installed and switch this off.

I currently have fast boot on and when i try the windows 10 boot via UEFI i'm getting that weird VGA LED problem again.

Really don't know what's causing that though.

Hi guys,

Did you solve your problem? did you have win10 WHQL enabled?

I have problems when win10 WHQL is enabled. It`s very weired because when it is enabled I can`t access bios because I don`t have video signal and my monitor doesn`t start. When I turn on the computer, windows starts and everything is fine and superfast to boot with WHQL enabled, after windows starts through recovery option I try to go to eufi firmware settings and the computer restarts to bios and no video signal. Windows is installed in eufi mode and I`ve tried new drivers, new windows pendrivers installation and nothing. With WHQL enabled it is impossible to access bios and the only way I´ve found is to clear the CMOS and put WHQL disabled and everything works fine again.

Waiting for a solution too...

My pc has been running well for awhile now.

I don't remember playing with a setting for WHQL.

It's so strange how i got mine working though...With a number of reboots and lots of CMOS clears. It just started behaving normal and hasn't had that weird VGA light issue.

I also managed to clock it to 4.8ghz and run the xmp for my ram.

I noticed that MSI has a new bios available on their website for our board but i'm very reluctant to revisit this again as I've had no more issues since.

Glad to hear yours is working well. If it's working ok, don't bother to try and change anything. I'm using the new BIOS and I don't think it is stable enough that it's worth changing to. I'm still waiting for MSI to reply to my issue. Let's wait and see what they say. Cheers
