water return to the reservior from top or bottom?

Greetings,

I did a search but didn't get anything.

Wondering if I should upgrade the top of the EK P360 reservoir top and flow the water back from the top. I haven't get my hand on the cooler yet, and wondering why the default inlet is next to the outlet, rather than from the top. If you suck the return water immediately, why bother to have a reservoir?

This question can also extend to the size of reservoir. I thought a larger reservoir increases the volume of water for better cooling. If so, the default inlet should be on the other end (top) of the reservoir, right?

Cheers!

The in/out being next to each other is not an issue. The point of the reservoir is to keep the pump from running dry while filling and the water also evaporates over time. More volume does not mean more cooling, the cooling comes from radiator space.

Thanks so much, Deedaz!

So, there is no reason to get a larger reservoir, or worry about return the water from top or bottom?

Cheers!

Not really, just go with what looks/works best. thumb.gif

Like said any inlet will do its whatever works best for you with the shortest tubing runs and whatever looks better. The size of the res don't really matter its just their for spare coolant and most use a big one to show off pretty much and won't do anything for cooling like said. The other thing is buying more coolant if your lube is big the bigger res will make the total coolant you need go up.Honestly i have seen 2 styles of water cooling,The bare basic and simple,The the huge flashy look at me systems. Both work great when done right but its really up to the user how they want theirs to look in the end.

I'm sure a top in/ bottom out configuration would bleed faster but that's gonna be able the only difference. On my photon some of the bubbles get sucked right back into the pump and it takes a little longer to bleed.

Thank you for your kind input!

The so called "bleed" - does it mean to let the air bubble out?

Cheers!

I haven''t noticed a difference in bleed time between a top/bottom or bottom/bottom reservoir config.

I am planning to get the EK P360 kit, which has a D5 pump. Does that pump allow to use internal tub to connect to the inlet (from inside the reservoir), so that the return water can go up before getting sucked in by the pump?

If so, all problem solved smile.gif
