Yeah makes sense now. Server chip. I don't know what I was thinking...

I hope you are joking. This would be boss for a workstation or a server.

I love my 6800K but damn AMD, you keep tempting me. First Ryzen, then Threadripper, now EPYC.... rolleyes.gif

I love hearing about what AMD is going to do next. But sad note is that there's so few EPYC boards now buyable (just one; Gigabyte), about 4 or 5 others exist from SuperMicro & Tyan and then there's some OEM prebuild's out there. And even if you got the mobo, there's no chip you can buy anywhere as a consumer. So no real whitebox builds. =/

ServeTheHome seems to be the only one that really has played around with them. Anyway, I just hope the clock speeds rise up to a turbo of 4GHz.

Welp, of course. Most of the Intel chips are the same. You can only buy them from vendors, as a part of a whole server, not separate.

Most except the very highest were often on Newegg at least though. Even their new Xeon Scaleable Processors (LGA3647) are starting to show up:

64 core zen 2 epyc? I think that would mean 16 core Ryzen 7 or whatever they will call it.

I guess that is 4 ccx on 1 die. I hope there will be lower end model with 2 ccx/8 cores, because i think that will propably overclock better than models with more cores, should be good upgrade from 1600x with extra 2 cores, higher clockspeed and ipc.

Like a lot of the other crunchers, oh man this would be awesome to run BOINC on... You'd only need eight processors total (in four rigs) to hit 1,024 threads of computing power!

Even just a single two cpu setup with these CPUs would be awesome... Doubly so if it didn't draw too too much power......
