I get it. I started with SC personally. I hated ladder in WC3.

Right, but SC and Warcraft were always their own separate RTS with a vastly different style, feel, lore, etc even before Warcraft 3. I guess Blizz just didn't want to move forward with 2 RTS in the long run.

As if this series wasn't milked to death, they are bringing out a classic version which is essentially the same game but just beating a dead horse. They should have redone Warcraft 1-3.Not this crap.

When people ask and there is a market for it, what is your problem about it?

So a good 80% of the content before Cata came out really was never seen again.

The original progress time was there in order to slow people down, since blizzard needed time to make and release their raids and dungeons.
If people like today, could reach max level and clear all dungeons within a month or so, people will just reduce their subscription to when something new comes out, and leave a month later.
By making everything slow, grindy, but also interesting, it kept people in the game, and small achievements even to get your first mount, a great feat, let alone getting the higher speed mounts.

Once higher levels and more expansions came to be, there was no reason to intentionally force you to grind for months into 1-60 when you just want to level a new character to join your friends within a couple of weeks.

People who ere intersected in just the classic, were interested in the slow down, in the community over content.

Yeah, you're right. I played some classic recently, and loved seeing low level people leveling everywhere. That just isn't a thing anymore, at least from my perspective. Also if i wanted to do a hard quest i had to talk in general to find someone. This brings a greater sense in community than when people do LFR, and just complain when others die rather than communicate before hand.

You're also right about safe guarding their sub fee's, but at the same time that ruins it for me. I just don't like the current content, and i feel like when i play classic, that i have no concern about the grind like i do with current wow. Its strange.

TBH I don't feel like the grind in the current state of WoW is required.
Unless you are in some high end guild, there is no requirement to grind anything. You don't need to work for gold as gold is very easy to come by, you don't need to work to get flasks as unless you are planning into progression, you don't need any, etc etc.
You can just come online to talk to friends, and sit in a hub without any reason to go anywhere.

In classic I always felt that the grind was a must. Currency was hard to come by (especially without flying to farm reagents), gearing required grinding more than anything (doing the same dungeon over and over and over again just for that one small piece of loot), etc etc.

The main difference is that the grind in classic felt, rewarding, as it was hard. When you accomplished something, it was a "wow". Now, pff, next.

I think you hit it spot on.

The grind i meant in current is like the quests to get through on Argus. I just don't feel like doing them. I need to do them, but the reward just doesn't seem appetizing?

See the first part of what I quoted is what I find interesting. Why? Well because it's accurate and yet missing from most of the comments I've seen since the classic announcement. I see a lot of discussion about Raids etc... yet I remember the absolute lack of things when the game launched. I mean I swear there was at least one zone that wasn't even populated with anything when the game launched... because they hadn't gotten around to that yet.

At launch the database lag was so bad on my launch server that I didn't play for a bit. Then I checked one day and the lag was cleared up.. meaning you could loot and not get stuck in loot position. I was playing a Warlock because of all the classes... most of the discussion said the class was horrible. Personally I thought it was great... I was recruited into a group that turned into a guild group. The GM had one mission... to be max level by the end of December because they were on a vacation until then. The guy was pretty much an encyclopedia of everything in the game... what there was for your class and where to get it.

I remember all the content we did... how many times we did the same thing (so everyone got their drops even when leveled well past) etc... So I clearly remember the lack of content after a certain point and that was also what made the grind even more of a grind.

On another note... I guess this makes me realize that people probably don't want an actual "launch version" of classic.... There certainly were no raids that I remember at that point and the "group content" only went so far... Going back to a previous thing I mentioned... I'm also pretty sure that Blasted Lands was devoid of NPC's of any kind at launch. As I seem to remember wandering around there on my Warlock and the GM of my Guild explaining why it was empty at the time. Or maybe I just don't remember correctly...
