So i know how to overclock but i cant get a stable overclock
I saw people on the internet getting like 3ghz and i cant get above 2.8 cuse it just crashes
And when its on 2.8 and i want to play a game windows crashes
Vcore, FSB Termination Voltage, CPU PLL Voltage, vFSB, and GTL's? Additionally, also curious about what kind of memory, and what settings you have them run at (are they tighter timings, are they stock timings, etc)
You need more vCore for 3Ghz arround 1.3v and that board lack voltaje adjustment for the CPU. Try this settings on BIOS an see how far you can overclock with stock vCore

>Speed steep - Disable
>NB Voltage - Increasing this voltaje can help at high fsb / high memory speed give it a try

Use the setting that mentioned early and increase the CPU Frecuency in 2Mhz steps. Your RAM is 667 so you have to drop the multiplier to 533 to maintain it at the rated frequency. Once you get your CPU overclock stable you can start playing with the RAM. But always overclock ONE component at the time
Just checked the manual and the board doesn't have 533 multiplier. So your overclock will be limited to the max RAM frequency and also vcore. Upload a photo of CPU-Z tab "SPD" to see what rams you have.
In my opinion if you want to get a decent overclock you need a better board, that G31M is very limited in terms of BIOS settings
Yes the problem with that is when you increase the "CPU Frequency" also increase the RAM Frequency and since your RAM is 667Mhz can make your system unstable.
You can loose the memory timings and increase the vdimm to remediate that, once you make your CPU O.C Stable then you can start adjusting the memory as i said early
Weird, switch to the DDR800 memory. Set the multiplier "667" and increase the CPU Frequency using the "base settings" that i posted in my first response. The first limitation you will encounter is lack of vCore, so forget about 3Ghz probably 2.6-2.7Ghz will be the maximum you will reach with that board
You can't change that with your board is fixed to the stock VID. Is the voltaje of the CPU, you need arround 1.3V for 3.0Ghz.
Two options: Upgrading the board or if you are a brave man doing a vmod
Is a manual vcore adjustment
Basically you trick one signal of the VRM of your motherboard, usually is Vsense or FB depends on the controller model can be other pin. So you solder a variable resistor from FB / Vsense pin to ground, by lowering the resistance the vrm controller "thinks" that the voltaje is below the normal value and compensate this increasing the voltage output.
I don't recommend doing this without doing some research because you can fry your computer
So you're saying that the motherboard manufacturer supplies new BIOS updates, but they don't provide a way to install them?????
