Pretty sure it will work with Adaptive sync (VESA spec) and not G-sync.

AMD cards are pretty good, so imagine giving the guy 10X the R&D budget he had at AMD, and you tell me how good their product will be rolleyes.gif

I would appreciate having a third serious competitor in this space, but I'm not going to get ahead of myself. Intel tried and failed to bring a real GPU to market once already. It is going to take a real commitment from them.

Now that's the sort of headline I expect to read on the first day of April.

Why do I get the feeling that AMD is going to sell RTG to Intel or is going to be a major supplier going forwards?

I guess Anand's accompanying article pictures of Raja yesterday's departure from AMD and today's of joining Intel say it better than words, it's like a before and after:
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

On a more serious note, note how there isn't a single mention of gaming in the news; these discrete GPUs will be aimed primarily at compute applications, AI; Intel wants to go after Nvidia in the high-end segment, that is the goal. But those developments will, over time, inevitably have people asking and wanting to see how they perform in games, not to mention that a top to bottom strategy means that the same architecture will be on their CPUs, so it will be inevitable down the road. It will be interesting to see how this goes in several arenas. In the gaming department, they better be willing to spend money on a muscled driver team; there is a lot of catching up to do and it will take years.

I do wonder if there is any kind of non-compete clause at all between AMD and Raja. It doesn't seem like there is. Maybe a clause stating 3 - 5 years before Intel starts competing in gaming in the discrete market or something along those lines.
