Noctua NH-D15 and my case

Hi,
first post here, I hope this is the right section.

I'm about to buy a Noctua NH-D15, in replace of my Cooler Master 212 Hyper X. I OCed my i7 6700k (Skylake cpu), so I need to cool the temps down.
But I'm not sure if the Noctua fits in my case Antec Three Hundred (205 mm width).
My motherboard is Asus Z170 Pro Gaming and from the cpu socket to the lateral panel of the case there are 170 mm.
I also have 2 sticks of Corsair Vengeance LPX RAM DDR4 2x8 GB 3000Mhz but I think that these are low profile (height 1,3 mm).

Any help will be appreciated

Thanks in advance

what you mean? Maybe I don't have to go for the Noctua NH-D15? But I need a lot of cooling, otherwise I will purchase a CLC

There are other coolers that will perform within 95% of the nhd-15 and are smaller/cheaper, you do not need a nh-d15 for a 6700k.. It simply doesn't produce enough heat to make much use of any extra cooling capability a huge dual tower has over a quality single tower.

Look at the scythe mugen or fuma, thermalright Le grand macho RT, reeven ouranos, prolimitech megahalems, noctua NH-U14S

Hi, thanks for your response.
About the temps, I overclocked my cpu @ 4.5 Ghz - 1,300 v. - LLC 4 (no XMP for now) and with Realbech 15 min stress test I got max 72° - 73° Celsius.
I have to test it longer, but it seems stable. I'm not trying higher clock frequ because the temps, so I decided to replace my cooler with someone more efficient.

You mentioned the Noctua NH-U14S, whose height is 165 mm (just the same of the D15). Do you think this will fit in my case?

Antec Three Hundred has 170mm CPU clearance
Asus Z170 Pro Gaming's PCie sockee are 70mm to X1 PCie with 90mm to nearest X16 PCie is 90mm from center CPU to near side of PCIe socket.
Vengeance LPX RAM is 31mm tall or about 25mm above top of CPU. This means a 140mm fan will fit over RAM and clear the side cover.
There are at least half a dozen coolers every btt as good as NH-D15 / NH-D15S
D15 is usually higher priced than other coolers just as good, but that depends on where on Earth you are and what is available to you.

Hi and thanks.
I'm in Italy so no probl at all (Amazon is my friend).
What are the most recommended air coolers as good as NH-D15?

EDIT:
Excuse me, please, but you said that my case has 170 mm cpu clearance, so do you mean that I can fit the NH-D15 in my case and that I can close the side cover too?
I don't mind if it is high priced. I care about the temps

Le Grand Macho RT is defintiely as good a cooler as D15,
I've used D15, PH-TC14PE, Silver Arrow IB-E, Dark Rock Pro 3, Cryorig R1 Ultimate, TRUE Spirit 140 Power, and many other coolers to test their cooling ability. All are basically the same.
TRUE Spirit 140 Power is 51,99€ It iis 171mm tall so will fit but touch side.
NH-D15 is 99,35€
Dark Rock Pro 3 is 78,41€
Le Grand Macho RT is 81,45€
R1 Ultimate is 89,99€

Yes, D15 with front fan over RAM will fit and clear.

Thank you very very much. This is the answer I was looking for. thumb.gif
I hope you considered that the front fan over the RAM (often but not always - it depends on the rams) is mounted a little bit higher (because the ram). This, though, will increase the hight of the D15. What do you think about it? Should I worry?

I explained the case CPU clearance and how top of RAM is 25mm higher than top of CPU with 170mm clearance minus 140mm for fan equal 145mm of room for a 140mm fan to fit.

Maybe this link will help
