Not at all, the issue is and has always been that the progression of the game that was already paid for is tied to a game of chance and that came of chance can be purchased with further money.

The commission’s director, Peter Naessens, says that if your ability to succeed in the game is dependent on random outcomes - in this case, the contents of loot boxes - then the commission will have to consider it a game of chance.

Good to know that EA is under scrutiny in the US too. Go Hawaii!

It would be a big blow to EA if any sort of regulation were to pass through here in the U.S. Lets see if there is enough pressure to pass a bill through, but anything involving children and potential gambling should perk up some concerned parental ears. I was glad to see another country look into this besides Belgium. I'm sure other countries will follow.

Wow, those gamers sure showed EA. Giving that game a low review score really sticks it to the man and is productive.

Yes, let’s involve the government in video games. This will work out with no downsides whatsoever, because every lawmaker understands 100% of every topic they approach.

I see it as a consumer protection regulation, unless you have no issues paying full price for a pay-to-win game.

What's more productive is not buying the game, which many seem to be doing. Bad press is death to a franchise. Take your own advice on productivity maybe?

It absolutely is consumer protection for two reasons.

The first is regulation issuing licenses to games of chances bought through the transaction of real money ensures a fair and random chance holding the publisher and developer liable.

The second is it really does impact generations of kids growing up during the lootbox era as these games are psychologically and scientifically designed to target kids and get them hooked where its reward system surrounding its games of chance may or may not be rigged whether it is a cosmetic reward or pay to win reward. I don’t know why having kids play buy to play games would be so bad considering most of the forum users most likely grew up on the buy to play era.

CynicalUnicorn doing anything other than talking in exaggerated sarcasm and opposites? Don't make me laugh
He probably gets off on thinking he's a super clever witty cynic, even put it in his name. Maybe he'll be the next TotalBiscuit, he's even got a podcast!
Get out of the way CynicalBrit we got CynicalUnicorn over here
