I'm not sure what could be causing this? About 80% of the time (not every time) when I power on the computer it powers on, then almost instantly turns off but then powers back on by itself and boots normally. No issues at all while using the computer. No error messages, nothing. Boots right into windows and everything is fine. It reminds me of a system rebooting with a bad overclock and loads the fail safe settings.
The system is an older socket 775 system. with a Q9650 OC'ed to 3.6ghz.
Any thoughts?
It sounds like something is failing during POST, then passing on the second attempt. I know my system does it from time to time after adjusting my overclock. I either back down the overclock or increase voltage slightly and it fixes the issue. If you have already tried backing down the overclock or increasing voltage and still experience the issue, I'm not sure what would be causing the POST to fail the first time and pass the second.
It's actually a different system. I adjusted the voltage slightly and so far so good. We'll see.
