Its funny tho, but the mining for the resources for all the batteries and other parts, are almost as bad or even worse on the environment.
Electric cars are great, and will get better with time, but just like you said, the sound, the smell, the visceral feeling of a V8 ,V10-V12 are somehow connected to our primal instinct. The engines feel "alive" is a sense that they breath, the suck in air and with fuel, explode, transform into energy and release roar and power. Same way we love old steam trains, they just feel alive when they fire up.

I tell everyone, get them while you can, we live in the second gold age of cars since the 50-60s, maybe even better then those years if you look at the power, safety and modern design. All things will pass, and the fact electric cars can surpass the performance of gasoline combustion engines is great, at least it wont feel like a downgrade in the first iterations, ( except range, time to recharge "re-fuel", maybe the lifespan of the battery, compared to modern engines) .

But until we can manage to replace coal burning powerplants, with something new (nuclear ,fusion, fission, whatever we can master to be cleaner) will not make electric cars the "environment saviors" just yet.

The car looks cool, not so much on the semi. I bet it will sell decent in Europe, but don't count on it in America.

only if Tesla could make a lot of it, and a lot of companies are interested.
otherwise it'll remain a small part of the entire trucking industry.

And I don't know about perfectly reproducing the sound and 'energy' of a real engine, but with $800,000 to play with, I bet you could come pretty darn close.

$800,000 is overkill for something like that. Modern cars have become so quiet, that car manufacturers have started pumping artificial engine noises into the cabin and for quite some time now. Including sports cars and I believe a couple of supercars as well. Unless you told someone that it was artificial engine noises, they wouldn't know. This isn't quite a supercar, but https://jalopnik.com/the-renault-clio-gives-you-the-fake-engine-sounds-of-yo-1697053915

The only thing that would be missing if you did that would be the torque from the engine that tries to rotate the car. It's pretty difficult to show it in video, but if you've ever been in a high powered car (especially if it has soft suspension) with a longitudinal mounted engine, you'd know what I'm talking about.

They were talking about Europe.

You mean like the same way the TV and then internet destroyed the radio industry?

i've seen the opposite happen on a V6 SUV, the engine literally tried to rip itself off the chassis.
meaning, the car itself is a bit too heavy for the engine, but the chassis is too soft to withstand the torque.

I think it's meant to be used pretty much only in the US market.

There's a reason all the semis in europe are cabovers like this

Extra length for the puller means less space for cargo which means a pretty substantial loss in profitability.
