It has 8 Cherry Trail Atom cores at 1.8ghz.
Probably won't be able to run Windows.
If it doesn't throttle to the dirt, it has more juice than the Surface 3.
The price is excellent for a stylish modile phone.
Will be selling soon.
It's also emulating Android on x86 like the 835 emulates Windows. Not saying it is better than arm, but certainly a novel change.
Was waiting for Windows on arm and got teased with Android on x86

It doesnt run iOS so most people wont want it, and x86 cores typically dont work well with Android either. So the phone will be DOA. Though it is a good bit of hardware for the price.
They're hoping to attract pseudo nerds that jack off to the number of cores. It's a unremarkable budget phone otherwise, nothing to see here. We've had x86 Androids before, they never seen much success.
at lesat it has the fingerprint sensor on the front...

My 8yr old daughter ate that part up, seemed as important as her name being part of the company name. Also the word after stylish was misspelled. And the phone might not throttle that bad with the solid metal case and your hand as a heatsink. The Zenfone2 was pretty competent. This one looks cheezy in some of ways, but that's not always bad. If it ran windows it could potentially have responsiveness between the surface and surface pro.

If it's possible to install regular Linux on this thing I will consider it too, though it will throttle but I wonder whether it could be modded in any way.

IDK, maybe? Haven't flashed a rom on a phone before so I don't know too much, but support for messing around seems to be there for Spreadtrum: https://androidmtk.com/flash-pac-stock-rom-android-smartphone
I think there is a good chance the aluminum body is being used as a heatsink. If so a thermal pad and a heatsink base would help thermal throttling and not mess it up.
Input is fairly limited though. But the price kind of puts it in the fancy toy, or potential replacement for my lumia icon category.
This attempt to get Intel into the mobile again at the same time MS is supposedly going to try arm caught my eye too. Eight Atom cores is a decent attempt and Intel must have some reason to believe they could be low powered enough to run in a phone. The Intel igpu heater has obviously been replaced by some indeterminate, lower powered mobile one.
is it faster than an a11 bionic?
because that's faster than the i5 in the Macbook Pro
