8700K parts advice

I am planning an 8700K build and wondering if you wouldn't mind please checking my choices make sense. Gaming with some light application work, 1440p 144hz. I will reuse most things, I have 1080ti already, 960 evo 250gb, will reuse kraken x61. I plan a mild overclock, not a delid, probably 4800mHz all cores.

I am considering a gigabyte z370 gaming 5, 8700K of course and 2x8gb of tridentZ 3200 cl14 or 3600 cl16 which ever is the best deal. I presume the regular tridentZ is the same as the RGB version despite saying it is for z170? Any other brands or models of ram I should consider? Motherboard seems like a good choice for the price but there are no reviews of it which is odd. The gaming 7 is a bit too expensive.

I would go with the Trident Z 3200 cl14. It will likely be faster and is an excellent overclocker. Newegg had them on sale last week for $180 a set.

I believe the RGB version is the same, just a different heatspreader.

Thanks, so this would be a good choice?

For some reason none of the low latency kits seem to be available in my country only 3200 cl16. I will watch newegg closely this weekend. Hopefully there is a deal to be had, their international shipping is quite reasonable. Any other reliable websites you guys in the US use frequently?

Those are definitely what I'd get (and did, lol). They have a variety of colors available too. Other than Newegg I also use Amazon and Ebay. Not sure what is available in New Zealand.

We have excellent motherboard availability, good 8700k availability but RAM is not good. 3200 cl16 is available but overpriced and only 1-2 sellers have each type. 3200 cl14 and 3600 cl16 are no longer available anywhere. I will closely watch newegg and amazon this weekend. Hopefully they have some decent black friday sales.

I bet you do! I am thinking the same thing, with my aorus 1080ti and planning to get the z370 aorus 5 there should be more than enough leds without the ram adding to it.
