Soft Tubing Recommendations UPDATED with results.

Hi folks,

I've been out of the loop for some time (pun intended) and I'm slowly updating my watercooling stuff. Well a few months ago I got a new pump, a res and radiator, and I just ran to home depot and got some cheepo tubing. Well obviously that cheepo tubing was not going to make the bends I needed so I ended up with really long looping sections to try to alleviate the bend stress. That's no longer cutting it as it's starting to kink in places so I need to get some proper tubing but I don't know whats what these days. I can't spend a ton of money but I'll spend what I need to to get something that won't kink on me. My main concern is kinking so while super clear is nice etc. I'll live with a little yellowing if it means I won't have to worry about my bends, lol. Here's some pics of what I got going on so you can see what I mean. Oh, and if it's something I can order from Amazon the better but not a must.

Primochill Advanced LRT and Mayhems soft tubing line up are the absolute best. Both have extremely low water absorption and leech ratings.

The Primochill tubing can be purchased on Amazon as well. thumb.gif You can also buy it directly on their website by the foot. Use code DONTGO for 8% off.

I second the Primochill Advanced LRT. Used it in my last loop for a few years before recently switching to an AIO. Tubing has nice thick walls that prevented any sort of kinks (I had some decent bends in mine) and even after a few years the tubing had no sort of plasticizing.

Cool, that's easy then, it's even Prime available. Sort of a followup question then, looking at my pics there do you think I can make the bend from the bottom of the res to the pump intake or should I get a 90deg fitting to go on the pump intake?

I'd personally go with a 45 at each end to make it look cleaner. A single 90 would work as well. I wouldn't go straight from the res to pump without that loop you currently have if using straight fittings.

I use mayhems clear 1/2"-3/4", its huge and doesnt kink. Im using straight barbs in a tight case and it takes bends very well

For the external rad I have primochill anti kink coils to protect tubes sticking to the painted wall, these restrict the bends but tube stays solid

I've been using Primochill Advanced LRT clear tubing for 3 and half years now. While it's not bad it's not perfect either. Here's my experience so far.

The first version of my build tended to run hot, around 50 C coolant. The tubing went yellow (like, really yellow) in a few months. That's not to blame Primochill or anything like that, my loop did run really hot after all. Just something to keep in mind.

Two and half years ago I rebuilt the system with a lot more radiator space and now the coolant temperature is around 35-40 C. No more yellow tubes, but they still do get cloudy after few months. Comparing used and new tubing side by side is night and day. I replaced it 2 or 3 times in this time span.

All this is with Mayhems X1, and I went through few packs of tubing in those years, so it's not just one batch.

Is there any soft tubing that will stay clear or should we still used colored tubing ?
I used few clear tubing, EK DuraClear will yellow after few months, my water temperature never been higher than 35°C but still this tubing started to yellowing after 3 months

Another tubing which I used has been Advanced LRT which has been very similar to EK DuraClear which started to yellowing after 2-3 months

Mayhems Ultra Clear has been best, just in 13/10 size tubing can kink, but not with 16/10 no issues with the kinking

Other tubing, have used EK ZMT which I liked too but went back to Mayhems UV White at 16/10 rather

Hope this helps

Thanks, Jura

Well I went with the Primochill Advanced LRT, went ahead and got compression fittings instead of barbs and two 90deg fittings and here are the results, looks much better IMO, what do you folks think?
