Hey OCN,
I know that no one reads these, but no one is a good friend of mine, so here's a shout out. I just turned 56, I've skate boarded for 45 years. I build my own PCs for making music. I'm psyched about Thunderbolt 3 coming to PC, and the world at large. "One cable to rule them all!"
Since Thunderbolt 3 isn't really here for PC yet, I will do some intermediary builds to bide my time. I will try to get some pics up of my current build. "till then, lots of lurking and research. Enjoy ;-$
LOL
Asus has it as an add-on card, but it has not been fully adopted by PC yet. I think next year, something about the chip sets addressing blah blah...
Asus ThunderboltEX 3
I hear mixed reviews, though ;-(
Thanks, 3000,
you are awesome. I am reluctant to do a serious build that doesn't include TB3 because some of the peripherals that I am building for will require it.
I have seen laptops with it and maybe a pre-built PC, but I don't think that I have seen a MOBO that has it native yet. and that is, in part, why I joined OCN, so that I can a real education in what 's out there and how to tune it;-)

What hardware do you want to use that needs thunderbolt 3?
You can probably find similar hardware on usb 3.1 and just use more ports instead of chaining devices.
Working with new equipment is nice, the best way to go about building your new PC is to ask yourself, what are you going to be using the computer for, what do you expect from such machine and how would it need to be to meet your satisfaction. By answering those questions or similar you route yourself into building the proper computer for your needs without having to spend $money$ on unnecessary components. Having fancy features such as TB3 may be nice, but don't make it your priority.

Thanks FX,
I make music in my home studio on my PC and I want TB3 to run and audio interface that can handle a lot of content.
I can do USB 3.1 which is native on the Asus z270 Prime A board I have for my intermediary build, but I think TB3 will have a broader range of powerful audio interfaces.
I don't have any expertise in music-related computers, but when you said Thuderbolt 3, the first thing I thought of was this build by Linus. Basically, its a multi-PC rackmount build in a storage room (for noise isolation) and he runs a thunderbolt cable through the wall to his and his wife's PCs in the other room. I love the idea for noise isolation and clean look.

Hey StillClock.,
Thanks for that, It was so nice to get to see Linus' kid;-) It is also nice to see how far we can go with this build.
