[PSU] Marvel Heroes dev shuts down, lays off all staff without pay

Quote:
Marvel Heroes developer Gazillion Entertainment reportedly closed its doors yesterday, laying off all staff on Thanksgiving Eve.

As a result of the studio’s closure, Marvel Heroes will now be shuttered on Friday; the game was originally set to wrap up next month.

Numerous ex-employees have since taken to social media to confirm Gazillion’s closure, which arrives not long after Disney announced its intention to “end its relationship” with the company.

In addition, former staff members are also claiming that they are not receiving severance pay or PTO, and that their medical insurance will cease as early as next week.

Naturally, the announcement that Marvel Heroes would be shuttering didn’t sit well with those who have invested in the title.

Well, that is very unfortunate for all those people..and on Thanksgiving eve no less..

I'm a Marvel fanboy to the bone, and Disney never sat well to me..

I sincerely hope that all those ppl get at least their severance money

I played the game for a few years.
Overall it was a fun game until things started to slow down as the developer pushed for consoles versions and made a lot of mistakes that affected the PC players who left the game over the last year or so.

Too bad. But it was inevitable I guess. Especially with marvel trying to overly control the game content, which also had a lot of bad effect on the game.

Edit:
Also it seems that gazillion had their contract with marvel about to expire and marvel were about to kill the game awhile ago, but gazillion promised them the console systems and more push in the market, that they could deliver.
This also explain why marvel promoted so many of their games, except marvel heroes, which I guess they just planned to let it die on its own.

Exactly, EA is a cancer that survives due to laying it's blame and any repurcussions on other entities under it. Look at Visceral, look at bioware, hell even look at the statement that they forced some at Dice to release, it didn't say someone from EA.
