Swapping out drives in Raid0

Thread Starter
Hi Guys,

I have two 5 years old Seagate using RAID0 that are running low on storage space and reliability. At first, I wanted to remove the RAID0 but I don't want to reinstall my operating system. So I decided to swap out the old hard drives in RAID0 for something bigger and newer. Would that be possible? are there any extra steps I need to do to ensure my computer will boot with the new drives? I am trying to avoid re-installing new operating system but at the same time replacing the older drives in RAID0.

Note: My operating system is not on the raid drives

Thanks in advance,
Death to SONY!

So they're storage drives?

ez

You'll just have to create a new array volume in the BIOS (unless you're doing software RAID) and you'll be good to go.

According to your answer, if I remove the two storage RAID0 drives, I can just connect the new drives. Boot it up and set up the same RAID0 array as before, and the current operating system should be able to recognize it?

If that's the case, it is easier than I expected. Thanks tongue.gif

You'll have to set up the new drives as a new array but you won't have any issues just removing your current array.
