In addition, the brick-and-mortar NCIX's seemed like nothing more than a depot to pick up your shipped merchandise. They were so sparse inside, with comparatively few products on display and less available for sale. CC on the other hand seemed fully stocked with merch, where you could actually go in and pick something up you needed without having to have it shipped in.
I can believe that. I've just had a mixed experience with Canada Computers in Newmarket and Markham (Ontario).
They used to have subpar salespeople on the floor. Pushing products I dont need or failing to understand what I'm after and recommening incompatible products or something unrelated.
What I like about CC was their monitor/ pixel failure policy. I spent 5$ cad for a warranty that covered any amount of dead pixels.
I bought a 120hz monitor (BenQ 2720Z or something) on release date and it had a dead green pixel that intermittently worked in the middle of the diplay. I went to return it but it was working whilst they were testing it but I showed them a photo I took and they believed it. Also, while I was processing the return, the pixel went dead and we were joking that I wasn't lying and I didn't just Photoshop it for a return.
With NCIX, which was in Markham as well I believe, I never had an issue. Except stock. So I usually ordered online from them. But it was nice to have the variety of going into both shops.
